Job Summary
GENERAL FUNCTION:This position supports the work of the Y a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development healthy living and social responsibility. This position reports to the Controller. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to: Revenue & billing accuracy; cash receipts and payments; collection administration and support; balance sheet reconciliations; account analysis reconciliation and reserves and various filing requirements; and other accounting functions as assigned. Also supports audits and various ad hoc and ongoing projects and analysis as assigned to support the Controller and accounting FUNCTIONS:Revenue and Billing AccuracyOversee and audit revenue and billing to ensure timely and accurate processing for all YMCA customer accounts (Members Program Participants Donors Third Party Payers Facility Renters and Others) with a focus on compliance with contracts agreements and YMCA dashboards and exception reporting to ensure transaction processing and issue Management and Fund AccountingMaintain restricted and reserve fund schedules to comply with various grants contributions trusts or management designated reserve policies/ for daily banking activity to move funds between restricted and operating accountsManage draw down of various grant fundsPrepare/Maintain cash register and cash flow reportingCash Receipts Payments & AdjustmentsEnsure all receipts and adjustments have been posted daily to customer accountsReview and ensure processing of all returns or charge backs for bank drafts credit card drafts checks and ACHValidate third party collection receipts and processingEnsure processing of approved adjustments or write off requests and late fee administrationGeneral Ledger Maintenance and ClosingCompile and analyze information throughout the month and prepares timely journal entries to drive towards an efficient and effective closing all balance sheet accounts monthly and resolve variances and discrepancies by working with staff to resolve problems and provide supporting documentation for Controller with the month-end close processAccount Analysis Reconciliation Reserves & Budgeting/ForecastingAnalyze and reconcile daily weekly monthly and annually data sets to ensure alignment of Bank Billing System Customer accounts and General LedgerMaintain and provide account analysis on receivable agingEstablish reserve policies and procedures for various receivable types (members programs participants donors (annual and capital) third parties facility rentals and others accountsSupport budgeting and cash forecasting (Short-Term and Long-Term)Perform data projections or relevant research as assignedCollections Administration and SupportCollaborate with Operations to develop collection strategies and SOPs to improve cash flow and reduce lossesProcess Improvement/Change ManagementDrive continuous improvement thru problem identification and resolution of systems improvementsReview/Update/Setup Accounts Receivable process and procedures to improve efficiency and implement any changes if necessaryAnnual Audit Financial Statement and Various Filing RequirementsAssist with year-end closing working schedules for annual audit and research and supporting documentation required by auditorsMaintain financial security by adhering to and auditing internal accounting controlsSupport annual financial statement preparation for management the Board and outside agenciesOther functions as neededMaintain documentation of processes policies and for other accounting positions and other general accounting functionsOther accounting as assignedQUALIFICATIONS:Required 3 years towards College Degree in Accounting or FinanceExcellent data management and Microsoft skillsCandidates must have excellent communication and customer service skillsFinancial analysis and budgetary experience preferredProactive self-motivated acts with sense of urgency and follow throughGreat attention to detail and well organizedSolves problems effectivelyEstablish/maintain relationships and promote team environmentEffective communication skills (written and oral)Ability to perform and complete multiple tasks or projects in a timely mannerMust be able to work well independently and also in a team environmentYMCA COMPETENCIES:Mission Advancement: Reinforces the Ys values within the organization and the community.
