Staff Accountant

Job Summary
Responsibilities
- Process daily banking activities including ACH payments wire transfers and remote check deposits.
- Monitor and reconcile daily bank activity while maintaining accurate cash records.
- Prepare daily cash reports and cash position summaries for leadership.
- Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations and investigate any discrepancies.
- Apply customer payments and process credit card receipts within the accounting system.
- Assist with accounts payable by entering manual invoices processing purchase order invoices and ensuring timely vendor payments.
- Reconcile monthly corporate credit card statements.
- Maintain prepaid expense schedules including insurance and other recurring prepaid assets.
- Prepare payroll-related journal entries and assist with payroll accounting activities.
- Support sales tax administration by reviewing transactions through Avalara and validating tax calculations.
- Generate and distribute daily AP AR banking and cash reporting.
- Assist with month-end close activities journal entries account reconciliations and other general ledger responsibilities.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes reporting and internal controls.
- Perform additional accounting and finance projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field preferred not required
- 2-5 years of accounting experience in a Staff Accountant Accounting Specialist or similar role.
- Experience with accounts payable accounts receivable bank reconciliations and general ledger accounting.
- Strong understanding of debits credits and month-end accounting processes.
- Experience preparing journal entries and reconciling balance sheet accounts.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience working within an ERP system; experience with ERP implementations or system conversions is a plus.
- Exposure to sales tax processes and payroll accounting is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent attention to detail problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset.
