Job Summary
The Accountant supports the finance department in various accounting functions including financial reporting reconciliations and analysis. This role plays a critical part in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Record journal entries and maintain the general ledger ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial transactions.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts including bank accounts accounts receivable and accounts payable.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements including income statements balance sheets and cash flow statements.
- Generate and distribute financial reports to management and other stakeholders as required.
- Process accounts payable invoices verify accuracy and ensure timely payment to vendors.
- Assist in accounts receivable functions including invoicing collections and reconciliations.
- Support the budgeting and forecasting process by analyzing historical data identifying trends and preparing financial models.
- Assist in the development of annual budgets variance analysis and performance reporting.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes including accruals adjustments and financial statement preparation.
- Collaborate with auditors during financial audits providing documentation and explanations as needed.
- Travel POC for SafeHarbors Concur and Program Managers.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Work Schedule
- Mon-Fri 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM EST
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in accounting finance or a related field; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficiency in Office (Word Excel PowerPoint Access Publisher Outlook Internet Explorer Teams) Zoom Skype or Slack communication.
- Govcon experience is preferred.
- ERP experience is required.
- Procas Payroll system preferred.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks SAP or Oracle)
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices including GAAP.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Experience in public accounting or a corporate finance environment.
- Familiarity with financial analysis tools and techniques.
- Certification such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CMA (Certified Management Accountant) is advantageous.
- Desire to grow and develop as a valuable member of our accounting team.
- Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers clients and other employees.
- Apply advanced concepts such as exponents logarithms quadratic equations and permutations.
Salary
- $26.44 to $ 38.46 per hour
- $55000.00 to 80000.00 annualized
