Job Summary
The Staff Accountant JIB Treasury & AP supports the JIB treasury and accounts payable functions within the QB Energy Accounting Department. This position is responsible for monthly JIB processing day-to-day treasury functions and higher-level accounts payable responsibilities. This role will help maintain financial accuracy and compliance within the company using Excel BOLO accounting software artificial intelligence software and a working knowledge of Oil and Gas activity-related coding. This role contributes to QB Energys financial management and operational reporting.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Run and maintain the monthly JIB process in BOLO including weekly JIB trial processes preparation of monthly JIB statements and uploading of monthly owner data to a third-party site for distribution.
Update monthly production pad area and other special allocations in BOLO.
Review and process all non-operated monthly JIB statements.
Prepare monthly journal entries for the following:
o Fleet vehicle and fuel costs
o Prepaid insurance bonds and other prepaid expense amortization.
o G&A payroll entries.
o Reclassification of certain payroll costs to lease operating expense.
o JIB holding account reclassifications to lease operating expense.
o Certain gathering fee allocations.
o Monthly equipment ad valorem tax accruals.
o Elimination entries for internal COPAS overhead costs and gathering costs.
o COPAS overhead accruals.
o Ad hoc reclassification and correcting journal entries.
o Other monthly entries which will arise in the normal course of business.
Prepare annual allocations of insurance and equipment ad valorem tax in coordination with accounting management.
Share preparation of the daily cash file; including clearing checks in BOLO BOLO deposit entries updates to the cash forecast and occasional wire set-up.
Share preparation of the monthly cash forecast in coordination with accounting management.
Review monthly transactions for use tax treatment and prepare quarterly return.
Code verify and route invoices for approval.
Serve as a resource to the Accounts Payable team for complex coding for JIB related invoices.
Other Duties & Responsibilities
Perform any other Accounting Department responsibilities that may be assigned by the Accounts Payable and Treasury Manager which will contribute to the achievement of the Companys goals and promote an efficient and effective accounting team.
Qualifications
Education
- Degree in accounting or comparable field is required.
Experience:
Required:
5 years of experience in an Oil and Gas JIB accounting position.
Skills & Abilities:
Strong data analysis skills with the ability to evaluate large volumes of data accurately and efficiently.
Comfortable working in an entrepreneurial environment with the desire and flexibility to grow with the Company.
Willingness to innovate to improve efficiency using artificial intelligence.
Highly detail-oriented and organized with the ability to multitask and meet monthly close deadlines.
Responsible reliable and eager to learn with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
Ability to effectively communicate and interact positively with others.
Specialized Knowledge:
Experience with OpenInvoice.
Experience with Oil and Gas specific Accounting Software (BOLO or Excalibur preferred).
Knowledge of AFE and Capital/LOE coding.
Strong Microsoft Excel knowledge.
Compensation
The base compensation for this role in this location is targeted between $99000 and $121000 annually. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise and may vary from the range listed above.

Work Conditions
Location:
This position is in Denver CO. Candidates currently residing in locations outside of daily commuting distance will be considered however it is the expectation that the selected individual will be available at the work location.
Work Environment:
This position operates in an office environment. This entails working inside an office space wherein employees may be provided a public workstation (cubicle) or private office. From time to time the role will require field visits where exposure to extreme weather conditions fumes airborne particles vibrations dust electrical charges and other unforeseen exposures may be encountered.
Physical Demands:
In the performance of the duties and responsibilities of this job the employee is required to have visual acuity to operate a motor vehicle and view a computer terminal for prolonged periods of time. While at work sites the employee will be expected to walk and stand. Individuals might be asked to climb balance stoop kneel crouch reach and/or crawl. Individuals might be required to lift carry push or pull up to 50 the performance of this position.
Position Type and Working Hours:
This is a full-time position. Core work hours are from 8:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m. Monday Thursday and 8:00 a.m. 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Employees must be capable and willing to work overtime as required and to participate in occasional meetings events seminars conferences or other activities outside of typical work hours. Employees responsible for project operations are expected to monitor and in some cases respond to emails calls or texts outside of business hours.
Travel:
Occasional travel to work site locations may be expected. Overnight stays may be required from time to time for training seminars field visits or visits to onsite locations.
