Staff Accountant (Construction)

We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant with a strong background in the construction industry to support our growing accounting team. This role will be responsible for day-to-day accounting operations job cost tracking and financial reporting. Experience with Sage 100 or ComputerEase is highly preferred.

• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts including month-end and year-end close processes
  
• Prepare and post journal entries accruals and account reconciliations
  
• Support job costing and project accounting ensuring accurate tracking of construction project expenses and revenues
  
• Monitor work-in-progress (WIP) schedules and assist with revenue recognition
  
• Process invoices subcontractor pay applications and lien waivers
  
• Assist with accounts payable and receivable activities as needed
  
• Partner with project managers to review budgets forecasts and cost variances
  
• Prepare financial reports and support internal/external audits
  
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies
  
• Assist with process improvements and system enhancements
  

• Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field
  
• 25 years of accounting experience with construction industry experience required
  
• Strong understanding of job costing WIP reporting and project-based accounting
  
• Experience with Sage 100 or ComputerEase
  
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables VLOOKUPs data analysis)
  
• Knowledge of GAAP principles
  
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
  

• Experience with subcontract billing AIA billing and retainage tracking
  
• Exposure to multi-entity or multi-project accounting environments
  
• CPA or CPA track (a plus not required)
  

• Onsite role based in Houston TX
