Job Summary
Staff Accountant
Reports To: Chief Financial Officer
Department: Finance & Accounting Position Summary
The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting operations of a fast-paced premiere operator of on-site immersive activations. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial records through timely account reconciliations journal entries month-end close activities payroll processing and financial reporting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented organized and capable of managing multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
General Accounting
Prepare and post monthly journal entries including accruals prepaid expenses payroll and other recurring entries.
Maintain the general ledger and ensure transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
Analyze account activity and investigate discrepancies.
Bank and Account Reconciliations
Perform monthly bank reconciliations for multiple operating and payroll accounts.
Reconcile balance sheet accounts and ensure supporting documentation is maintained.
Research and resolve outstanding reconciling items.
Credit Card Administration
Reconcile corporate credit card accounts and employee expense reports.
Review transactions for coding accuracy and compliance with company policies.
Follow up with employees regarding missing receipts or coding discrepancies.
Payroll Processing
Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on schedule.
Review payroll reports for completeness and accuracy prior to submission.
Maintain payroll records and assist with payroll tax reporting and compliance.
Financial Reporting
Prepare monthly financial reports and project summaries for Account Managers and department leaders.
Assist in the preparation of monthly management reporting packages.
Provide financial analysis related to project profitability expenses and budget-toactual performance.
Support management with ad hoc financial reporting requests.
Accounts Receivable and Project Support
Assist with project billing and revenue recognition processes as needed.
Work closely with Account Managers to ensure project costs are properly tracked and reported. Monitor project expenses and identify potential issues affecting profitability.
Audit and Compliance
Maintain organized accounting records and supporting documentation.
Assist with annual audits tax preparation and other compliance requirements.
Support the implementation and maintenance of internal controls and accounting procedures.
Qualifications Education and Experience
Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field required.
58 years of accounting experience required. Experience in a project-based agency marketing event or experiential services environment a plus.
Payroll processing experience preferred. Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Experience with month-end close and financial statement preparation.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel including pivot tables VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP and financial analysis.
Experience with accounting and payroll software.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
