Job Responsibilities:
Ensure compliance to quality standards. Support and facilitate audits and regulatory inspections and identify and raise quality issues with management. Responsible for multiple or highly complex projects.
1. Know and understand Bowling Green Metalforming Quality and Environmental policies.
2. Perform other duties as required.
3. Lead the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP/CPMP) process for new stamping dies and welding cells ensuring all quality milestones are met before Start of Production (SOP). Develop & implement the IATF 16949 standards processes procedures work instructions and objectives for welding.
4. Oversee project activities ensuring adherence to program timelines and issue tracking processes while coordinating cross functional teams evaluating risks implementing mitigation strategies and providing clear communication to leadership and customer stakeholders.
5. Apply advanced problem solving capabilities to analyze complex issues coordinate cross functional teams perform risk assessments identify root causes and execute effective corrective actions that ensure long term resolution.
6. PPAP Submissions: Oversee the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) including part layouts capability studies and material certifications.
7. Die & Gauge Buyoff: Review and approve stamping die tryouts and check fixture/gauge designs to ensure they accurately validate part geometry.
8. Process Controls: Establish Quality Standards and control plans specifically for stamping presses and welding subassemblies/assemblies.
9. Dimensional Quality: Manage dimensional integrity and PIST improvements ensure parts adhere to Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) standards
10. Talent Mentorship: Train and develop a team of Quality Engineers in advanced problem-solving tools like 8D 5 Whys and Fishbone diagrams.
11. Continuous Improvement: Lead Lean or Six Sigma projects to reduce scrap and rework in high-volume stamping and welding environment.
12. Develop and enhance standardized processes and best practices to ensure compliance with internal requirements customer expectations IATF standards AIAG guidelines Customer Specific Requirements and Cosma Minimum Requirements.
13. Any other duties as required
What we are looking for:
- Bachelors degree in mechanical Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering preferred.
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt is highly preferred.
- Significant experience in metal stamping (tandem progressive or transfer presses).
- Deep knowledge of welding processes (Resistance Spot Welding MIG/MAG or Laser Welding)
Preferred qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years in a leadership position including leading new launches and program teams
- Minimum 7 years in a Quality Engineering position supporting new launches and program teams
- Ability to work in a confidential and professional manner
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and have Strong organizational skills
- Computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Word Excel PowerPoint and Minitab
