Overview

We are seeking an experienced hands-on Sr. MEP / Commissioning Coordinator to support MEP execution QA/QC activity and commissioning coordination for a large-scale mission-critical HPC facility in Spartanburg SC.

This role will serve as a key on-site coordination resource across MEP construction quality documentation equipment startup commissioning activities and system turnover. The Sr. MEP / Commissioning Coordinator will work closely with the Construction Manager General Contractors MEP subcontractors third-party commissioning agents OEM startup technicians QA/QC personnel and construction leadership to ensure field execution aligns with project requirements design intent safety expectations and operational readiness standards.

This is a fully on-site role for someone who is comfortable being in the field tracking issues to closure reviewing documentation supporting commissioning milestones and helping maintain alignment between construction commissioning vendors and operations teams.

Key Responsibilities
MEP Field Coordination
  • Support on-site coordination of MEP scopes including electrical mechanical plumbing fire alarm controls and related infrastructure systems.
  • Work closely with the Construction Manager General Contractor MEP subcontractors specialty trade contractors and vendors to monitor field execution scope progress RFIs submittals and coordination issues.
  • Review MEP installation sequencing against the construction schedule identify potential conflicts and escalate issues before they create schedule or quality impacts.
  • Support the conversion and retrofit of large-scale industrial space into a mission-critical HPC environment including high-voltage power infrastructure low-voltage systems cooling systems controls and high-density compute floor build-out.
  • Coordinate with construction and commissioning leadership and supply vendors to help ensure site readiness aligns with equipment delivery installation startup and commissioning schedules.
  • Receive equipment packages from the program team and help confirm FAT/FWT documentation O&M manuals vendor startup requirements and commissioning prerequisites are complete prior to installation.
  • Attend FAT/FWT activities as required and support documentation follow-up.
QA/QC Support
  • Support execution of the on-site QA/QC program in accordance with established project standards and owner expectations.
  • Conduct regular field walks quality reviews installation checks and punch-list verification activities.
  • Document field observations quality issues corrective actions and resolution status.
  • Help manage QA/QC documentation including inspection reports non-conformance records quality sign-off packages punch lists and system turnover documentation.
  • Coordinate with third-party QA/QC personnel and consultants to help ensure field inspections reporting and corrective actions align with project expectations and applicable standards.
  • Verify that work is being completed in accordance with design specifications quality standards applicable codes and project requirements.
  • Reinforce site safety expectations and support safe work execution in alignment with the Construction Managers safety plan.
Commissioning Coordination
  • Support owner-side coordination of commissioning activities working closely with the third-party commissioning agent General Contractor design engineers OEM technicians and operations stakeholders.
  • Review commissioning plans test scripts Integrated Systems Testing procedures and system validation documentation before execution.
  • Help coordinate commissioning schedules prerequisites test readiness vendor participation documentation and issue resolution.
  • Attend and witness key commissioning milestones review test reports and deficiency logs and help track punch-list items through closure.
  • Support commissioning of critical infrastructure systems including electrical distribution UPS generators cooling systems controls BMS/EPMS and related infrastructure.
  • Apply working knowledge of BMS/EPMS control systems single-line electrical diagrams and mechanical schematics to review findings identify gaps and escalate incomplete or inconsistent results.
  • Help ensure systems are not accepted into service without proper validation documentation and owner sign-off.
CMOP Energization & High-Risk Work Support
  • Review Critical Methods of Procedure submitted for high-risk switching energization and live-environment work.
  • Support first-time energization events ensuring activities align with approved commissioning schedules safety standards and prerequisite checks.
  • Review switching plans load bank plans energization procedures and sequencing documents for completeness and alignment with design documentation.
  • Help verify that personnel are properly briefed and compliant with CMOP requirements before work begins.
  • Escalate deviations from approved procedures safety expectations or design intent as needed.
Reporting & Documentation
  • Provide regular field updates to construction and commissioning leadership regarding MEP progress QA/QC findings commissioning milestones open issues risks and documentation status.
  • Participate in OAC meetings construction coordination meetings stakeholder updates and commissioning reviews as a key on-site MEP and commissioning resource.
  • Track third-party performance schedule adherence documentation gaps punch-list status and issues requiring escalation.
  • Collaborate with Facilities and Site Operations teams to communicate construction and commissioning activities access needs sequencing and risk mitigation plans.
  • Help ensure construction and commissioning activities are executed without compromising operational continuity safety or long-term maintainability.
Requirements
  • 8 years of hands-on MEP QA/QC commissioning construction coordination or field engineering experience in mission-critical or complex infrastructure environments.
  • Experience supporting MEP construction and commissioning activities in data centers HPC facilities industrial facilities power infrastructure manufacturing semiconductor or high-availability environments.
  • Working knowledge of commissioning processes including CMOPs load bank coordination Integrated Systems Testing first-time energization switching procedures and system turnover.
  • Experience reviewing or supporting FAT/FWT documentation O&M documentation vendor startup requirements and on-site equipment startup with OEM technicians.
  • Strong working knowledge of MEP systems high-voltage and low-voltage electrical systems mechanical/cooling systems controls BMS/EPMS and fire alarm systems.
  • Experience coordinating with third-party commissioning agents QA/QC consultants contractors subcontractors and OEM technicians.
  • Proficiency with construction and project management tools such as Primavera P6 Procore BIM 360 or similar platforms.
  • Strong documentation communication field coordination and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to operate as a hands-on field-based coordinator in a fast-moving construction and commissioning environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • OSHA 30 and NFPA 70E certifications.
  • Higher Certificate Associates degree or Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Construction Management Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Familiarity with NFPA NEC IEEE ASHRAE and applicable building codes.
  • Experience in hyperscale data center HPC colocation semiconductor power generation heavy industrial or other complex mission-critical environments.
