About the Role

This is a greenfield high-ownership People Operations role the companys first dedicated HR hire. You will own the full employee lifecycle HR compliance benefits administration payroll partnership and HRIS management while building scalable HR processes from scratch. Once foundations are in place the role expands into culture manager enablement and employee experience.

What You Will Own

- Full employee lifecycle: onboarding role changes offboarding and terminations

- Employment documentation and records including offer letters agreements and separation materials

- HRIS management (Rippling) as the source of truth

- Primary internal owner for all HR processes and external vendor relationships

- California employment law compliance and in-person workplace considerations

- Employee transitions terminations and severance handled with care and sound judgment

- Benefits administration (health retirement) and broker/provider relationships

- Payroll accuracy and compliance in partnership with Finance

- HR workflow documentation and process building as the company scales

Requirements

- Experience at a venture-backed company with $10M in funding (ideally most recent role)

- 4-8 years of HR experience

- Prior experience as first or second HR hire at a Series A or B venture-backed startup

- California employment law fluency

- Strong HRIS fluency (Rippling a strong plus)

- Payroll fundamentals experience

- Demonstrated experience handling terminations and severance

- Based in SF Bay Area willing to work in-person 5 days per week in Dogpatch
