Title: Sr. Controls Engineer

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for designing developing programming of controls and automation systems for power generation utility and microgrid applications. The role involves integrating Electrical systems and industrial communication systems to ensure reliable and efficient operation of diesel generators and distributed energy assets.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Be the architect for control system platforms
  • Leverage global knowledge base to support R&D developments and customized deployments
  • Design interfaces between various proprietary hardware (ECUs Gen control panels PLCs HMIs)
  • Develop special customer applications with MTU controls system
  • Design controls system for R&D programs
  • Interface electrical and mechanical applications and systems with the MTU controls system
  • Work directly with controls and governor manufacturers to improve functionality and mitigate issues
  • Specify design validate and maintain MTU control systems
  • Hardware responsibilities: voltage regulators control panels engine ECUs PLCs and other protective relays
  • Work within a global electrical engineering organization and co-ordinate with global team in respective projects
  • Assist all areas of company with controls related issues
  • Devise strategic plans for problem resolutions using facts and gathered data
  • Involve in development and validation of special customer projects and as required.

Basic Requirements:

  • Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S without sponsorship. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time
  • Bachelors degree in engineering and 5 years of experience in Genset manufacturing or similar industry; or 9 years of relevant experience
  • Ability to travel 10% to customer and manufactures sites

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in programming using PLC and structure text programming scripted languages Boolean/digital logic etc.
  • Experience using device communication such as TCP-IP Modbus OPC UA and CAN bus
