Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a driven attentive Senior Construction Inspector for immediate employment near Piscataway NJ to join our Class I Railroad Team. This is a part time field position. 

**The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:**

  • On-site monitoring of Public Projects conducted by Outside Parties (e.g. DOTs) and their contractors for conformance with railroad requirements and approved contractor means and methods.
  • Conducting project preconstruction meetings between client personnel the contractor and Outside Party to establish project expectations and protocols.
  • Communicating with the client and contractor to work through field changes and resolve construction-related issues in a timely manner.
  • Maintaining accurate project records and being accountable for successful and timely delivery of field reports and meeting minutes while upholding the quality standards of AECOM and the client.
  • Interacting with a multi-disciplinary team comprised of track structures geotechnical signals mechanical and civil engineers to ensure project alignment and coordination.
  • Performing quality assurance inspections and verifying contractor compliance with specifications drawings and railroad safety standards.
  • Documenting project progress through photographs videos and detailed inspection notes to maintain comprehensive project records.
  • Monitoring project schedules and timelines identifying potential delays and communicating status updates to project stakeholders.
  • Ensuring adherence to all applicable federal state and local regulations as well as Class I Railroad safety requirements and protocols.
  • Tracking and documenting field issues non-conformances and corrective actions to maintain project quality and compliance records.

Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree plus 8 years of related experience or AS Degree plus 10 years of related experience or HS/GED plus 12 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency and/or education
  • Valid US Drivers License required to visit project sites clients and other AECOM offices. As a condition of employment selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review
  • Due to the nature of the projects a US Citizenship is required 

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10 years experience in the freight rail industry
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and able to communicate effectively (oral and written)
  • Willingness to travel 2-3 days a week within New Jersey
