About the Role
We are seeking a seasoned Senior Category Manager to own our Technology Professional Services category end-to-end. This is a high-visibility high-impact role for a practitioner who combines deep market expertise in Tech Services with the executive presence and relationship skills to serve as a true strategic partner to the business. You will be the go-to authority on best practices structure and negotiate complex multi-phased Technology Services agreements and drive the full sourcing and category management lifecycle from strategy through supplier performance.
The right candidate is simultaneously a credible thought leader and a hands-on executor: someone who can walk into a room with a CIO or a SVP of Technology earn their trust and then translate that partnership into measurable sourcing value.
- Own the end-to-end Technology Professional Services category strategy encompassing staff augmentation managed services consulting outsourced development and related tech labor models.
- Define multi-year category roadmaps aligned to business technology investments organizational priorities and evolving market capabilities.
- Serve as the recognized subject-matter expert and trusted advisor to senior technology finance and operational stakeholders on market trends supplier capabilities and emerging service models.
- Proactively identify category opportunities and bring forward-thinking data-backed recommendations without waiting to be asked.
- Lead the structuring and negotiation of sophisticated multi-phased Technology Services agreements including MSAs SOWs outcome based delivery frameworks T&M and fixed-fee constructs and hybrid commercial models.
- Design contract frameworks that appropriately balance business flexibility risk allocation IP protection data security and performance accountability.
- Drive favorable commercial outcomes on pricing benchmarks rate cards SLAs KPIs governance cadences and exit provisions.
- Oversee the full SOW lifecycle within Fieldglass (or equivalent VMS) ensuring compliant intake structured approvals and active management against scope and spend.
- Design and lead competitive sourcing events (RFI RFP RFQ) for Technology Professional Services engagements of varying scale and complexity.
- Apply best-in-class sourcing methodologies: total cost of ownership analysis should-cost modeling supplier scorecarding competitive benchmarking and market intelligence.
- Build and maintain a rationalized tiered supplier ecosystem balancing preferred-vendor depth with competitive tension.
- Manage supplier performance through structured governance KPI/SLA tracking QBRs and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Establish yourself as an embedded strategic partner to Technology Engineering Finance Legal and HR leaders understanding their roadmaps and ensuring sourcing strategy is a true enabler.
- Translate business requirements into sourcing and commercial strategies that stakeholders trust and champions.
- Influence sourcing adoption and procurement policy compliance through credibility and education not just process enforcement.
- Communicate complex commercial and market insights clearly and persuasively to audiences ranging from project managers to C-suite executives.
- Deliver and track measurable value: cost savings cost avoidance risk mitigation cycle time improvements and supplier quality gains.
- Provide monthly savings forecasts and maintain a transparent pipeline of category initiatives with expected timelines and outcomes.
- Leverage data and analytics tools (Power BI Tableau spend analytics platforms) to generate actionable category insights and support decision-making.
- Establish monitor and report on KPIs and category health metrics to leadership.
- Proactively identify and mitigate sourcing supplier contractual and operational risks across the Technology Services portfolio.
- Champion procurement policy adherence ethical sourcing standards and regulatory compliance.
- Continuously improve sourcing processes tools and templates bringing structure and repeatability to complex bespoke engagements.
- Degree or equivalent and typically requires 7 years of relevant experience.
- 7-10 years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing category management or procurement with a minimum of 5 years focused specifically on Technology Professional Services.
- Demonstrated track record structuring and negotiating complex multi-phased Technology Services agreements at significant scale (consulting managed services staff augmentation outsourced development).
- Proven ability to influence and partner with senior technology and business stakeholders in a fast-paced matrixed environment.
- Experience managing the full SOW lifecycle within a VMS platform (Fieldglass preferred).
- Deep knowledge of the Technology Professional Services market: vendor landscape commercial models (T&M fixed-fee milestone outcome-based) rate card benchmarking and industry pricing dynamics.
- Strong contract expertise: ability to read draft and redline MSAs SOWs and amendments with a working knowledge of key legal and risk provisions.
- Proficiency in data and analytics tools (Excel Power BI Tableau) and procurement platforms (SAP Ariba Coupa or equivalent).
- Familiarity with contingent workforce management Managed Service Provider (MSP) models and VMS governance.
