About the Role
Were seeking a skilled Spot Weld Setup Technician to join our sheet metal fabrication team at our Eagan this role youll be responsible for setting up operating and maintaining spot welding equipment to ensure high-quality welds on sheet metal components. Youll work closely with production engineering and quality teams to keep operations running smoothly and safely.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up spot welding machines according to job specifications blueprints and work orders
- Select appropriate electrodes fixtures and welding parameters based on material type and thickness
- Perform first-piece inspections and verify quality using measurement tools
- Operate spot welding equipment efficiently while maintaining product quality and consistency
- Troubleshoot and adjust weld settings to resolve quality or equipment issues
- Document setups maintenance activities and production data as required
- Work closely with team members to meet production schedules
- Follow all safety procedures PPE requirements and shop standards
Qualifications
Required:
- 1-3 years of experience in sheet metal fabrication welding or related manufacturing operations
- Hands-on experience with spot welding equipment and tooling
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings weld symbols and technical instructions
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problemsolving skills
- Familiarity with basic measurement tools (calipers micrometers gauges etc.)
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods
Preferred:
- Experience with multiple welding processes (TIG MIG projection welding)
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing or 5S principles
- Prior experience in a highmix lowvolume production environment
