Sports ReporterThe Citizen is looking for a sports reporter to work with its award-winning staff in cover the Cayuga County area of Central New York which along with the city of Auburn includes several rural areas and lakeside newspaper prints three times a week but our main priority is producing content for our website sports reporter primarily covers high school sports at nine area districts. We also cover some college sports including summer baseball team the Auburn Doubledays as well as the annual Great Race relay event on Owasco ideal candidate will be able to not only write compellingly about games and athletes but also take photos and video. (Camera provided.)The position has flexibility: Hours are dependent on when games are played so you would mostly work afternoons and evenings. You would work Saturdays on a regular basis as would have the option of working in our office but our staff is mostly remote so could work remotely as of a bachelors or masters program in journalism and/or some experience working at a news publication is with your resume please include a cover letter and at least three sports writing samples ideally ones that have been published.
