Speech Therapist

Pay: $47.00/ hr

Incentive Eligible Position: Yes

Essential Functions:

• Assess diagnose screen and prevent language speech and swallowing disorders.
• Communicate with the patient and liaising with their family members physicians and teachers to design effective treatment plans.
• Use tried and tested therapies in combination with new innovative techniques to provide the best care.
• Keep up-to-date with advancements in the field by attending conferences conducting research and expanding professional and academic networks.
• Educate patients and their families on speech disorders and available therapies.
• Take detailed notes on patient history and progress.
• Provide mentoring and workshops to speech therapy students.
• Evaluate patient progress and implement changes to therapy programs as required.

Skills Abilities:

• Effective oral written andrelationship-building skills.
• Ability to complete competency CPR and First Aid.
• Computer skills and familiarity with database management software.
• Ability to perform simple mathematical equations to prioritize and complete multiple tasks and strong problem-solving skills.

Working Conditions:

• Exposure to distressed patients families or visitors.
• Possible exposure to inside environmental conditions.

Physical Demands:

• Requires standing sitting or walking for up to 8 hours or longer per day.
• The ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications:

• Masters degree in Speech Therapy or Speech-language Pathology.
• Relevant license and certification.
• Experience with certain disorders and age groups may be required. Sound understanding of speech-related disorders and treatments.
• Willingness to conduct research and travel to conferences.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2 years of experience
• Experience in hospital setting.
