St. Joseph Health Madison Hospital is a 25 bed critical access hospital in Madisonville Texas offering a Level IV Trauma Center IP and OP services therapy emergency care skilled nursing care injury treatment and more.

Accredited by The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and designated as a Level III Support Stroke Facility by the Texas Department of State Health Services.

Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Speech Language Pathologist you will be a vital clinician expertly assessing diagnosing and treating communication and swallowing disorders to significantly improve patient quality of life.

Every day you will conduct comprehensive evaluations for all referred patients meticulously implementing individualized treatment plans. Youll contribute clinical expertise to develop/upgrade treatment programs/protocols and actively shape departmental and organizational goals.

To be successful in this role you will possess advanced clinical knowledge exceptional diagnostic/therapeutic skills and a compassionate patient-centered approach.
  • Evaluates/assesses patients in a systematic and thorough manner; establishes appropriate treatment plans and goals within specified time frames; administers appropriate treatments to patients; demonstrates knowledge and skill in the use of therapeutic interventions for speech language cognition and swallowing for patients of all ages.
  • Instructs and supervises patient care of rehabilitation technicians and student affiliates in a respectful courteous and consistent manner.
  • Maintains timely and accurate medical records; records legibly in patient charts; completes reports in an organized thorough and timely manner.
  • Fosters communication with patients and families other therapists physicians nurses volunteers and other hospital personnel to achieve goals and establish department support; attends and provides quality input during multidisciplinary rounds and departmental meetings.
  • Provides patient and family education; includes information on outside resources to meet the patients specific needs.
  • Promotes health care outcomes in concert with currently accepted clinical practice guidelines and established clinical pathways. Identifies poor outcomes/data for referral for performance improvement.
Job Requirements
Required
  • Masters Other Major in Communication Sciences and Disorders or other related field
  • Speech Language Pathologist: TX upon hire
  • Basic Life Support - CPR within 14 - days
