Description:
Routinely performs all the duties of a staff pharmacist but also utilizes a portion of their assigned work time to a specialty area within the pharmacy that provides direct support or training to other staff data analytics and supporting pharmacy accreditation.
Trinity Health Pharmacy Wege Center provides specialty pharmacy care for patients with rare and chronic health conditions which include but are not limited to HIV Transplant and Oncology.

Education

  • Minimum: Five-year Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy. Specialist in one or more areas of expertise within pharmacy.
  • Preferred: Advanced training in their area of specialty; completion of ASHP PGY1 residency

Credentials/Licensure

  • Minimum: Current registered pharmacist license and controlled substance license issued by the Michigan State Board of Pharmacy. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification may be required.
  • Preferred: Certified Specialty Pharmacist (CSP)

Related Experience

  • Preferred: Five or more years of work in a hospital or specialty pharmacy.

Essential Functions

  • Reviews prepares and dispenses medication orders per physician order or prescription according to established policies procedures and protocols.
  • Ensures safe appropriate cost-effective medication therapies for patients according to established policies procedures and protocols.
  • Contributes to the quality and effective operation of the department.
  • Provides clinical consultation and clarification to practitioners. Suggests appropriate cost-effective therapeutic alternatives to physicians as needed.
  • Provides drug information and counseling to patients families and other healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in the training education precepting and evaluation of pharmacy students and/or residents as assigned.
  • Provides work direction to pharmacy support personnel and verifies the daily activities of pharmacy technicians.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
