Job Description
The Specialized Product Division at the Utah Department of Agriculture and Food (UDAF) are seeking a qualified individual to fill a Compliance Inspector position. The employee will function as a field representative of the division and will primarily be responsible for performing inspections of kratom hemp and specialized product processing facilities and retail locations to enforce regulations set by the State of Utah and provide technical leadership. Inspectors monitor agricultural policy and certify compliance with program regulations. Inspectors need to have outstanding integrity extreme attention to detail and exceptional interpersonal communication skills. This job will require you to understand and clearly communicate laws and rules to individuals participating in the legal sale of kratom hemp and specialized products in the State of Utah. This will include reviewing product labels of hemp kratom and specialized product commodities for compliance and issuing a notice of non-compliance of the law Destruction and/or stop-sale notices.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote responsible Specialized Product production and commerce.
- Provides technical leadership in their area of specialty.
- Comply with the requirements of due process.
- Prepare compliance violations.
- Implement administrative controls.
- Federal and State licensure may be required for each program.
- Receives researches and responds to incoming questions or complaints; provides information explains policy and procedures and/or facilitates a resolution.

- Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws regulations and agency rules standards and guidelines.
- Monitor and evaluate operations programs processes and practices for quality and effectiveness. Inspect grade and certify facilities and products. Schedule and conduct inspections and investigations.
- Gather identify and stores samples of materials to be tested on-site or forwarded to a laboratory for testing.
- Enforce laws rules and regulations.
- Maintain detailed inspection and investigation records prepare reports and attend to other related administrative requirements.
Qualifications
Minimum or day-one qualifications:
- The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
- A basic understanding of the hemp kratom and specialized products industry.
- Experience in regulating producing or manufacturing agriculture products or experience in the hemp kratom and specialized products industry.
- Experience with Google Suite Salesforce or other applicable software.
Preferred or trainable/on-the-job qualifications:

- Knowledge of the chemical composition structure and properties of substances and of the chemical processes and transformations that they undergo. This includes uses of chemicals and their interactions danger signs production techniques and disposal methods.
- Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles techniques procedures and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
- Knowledge of plant organisms their tissues cells functions interdependencies and interactions with each other and the environment.
- The ability to add subtract multiply or divide quickly and correctly.
- The ability to understand and calculate percentages.
- Advanced knowledge of standard office software.
