Qualifications:

Masters degree preferred

Minimum three years teaching experience at the elementary level

Leadership experience working with adults

Experience in the design and delivery of staff development

Experience in writing curriculum

Advanced knowledge of state standards and research-based instructional best practices

Advanced knowledge of assessment and data analysis

Strong organizational communication and interpersonal skills

Emotional intelligence to work cooperatively and effectively with colleagues

Growth mindset in the abilities of students colleagues and self

Aptitude for learning and mastering new technologies

Primary Purpose:

The Curriculum and Instruction Specialist provides leadership in a specific core subject areas and expertise in curriculum design and delivery staff development and instructional models.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Articulate the districts mission vision and implementation strategies to all stakeholders in the realization of the goals as they pertain to curriculum alignment and instructional delivery.
  2. Assist teachers in implementing the district curriculum in accordance with the district goals.
  3. Work in collaboration with other district curriculum and instructional staff members to align support including professional learning.
  4. Plan facilitate present and evaluate professional learning that supports the aligned curriculum.
  5. Assist teachers with lesson planning and lesson plan review for effectiveness.
  6. Provide support to campuses through coaching modeling and mentoring.
  7. Review and create professional online learning utilizing the districts learning management system.
  8. Work collaboratively with other district departments to assure cooperative communication between and among departments.
  9. Collaborate with identified campuses instructional leaders to build capacity and identify areas for professional learning.
  10. Support campuses with professional learning needs.
  11. Assist with content specific Professional Development tasks as determined by the director.
  12. Serve as professional model for effective teaching.
  13. Attend content or program specific meetings when requested.
  14. Serve on district committees as assigned.
  15. Use data to make decisions in evaluating the effectiveness of the departments initiatives as they relate to the districts plans and program.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned.

Equipment Used:

Personal computer printer and copier.

Working Conditions:

Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; regular district-wide travel to multiple work locations; moderate lifting and carrying occasional out of district travel.
