Job Summary
TRAVEL: Up to 75% travel on short notice with flexibility outside traditional business hours.
Energy Support Services a New Energy Equity company provides operations maintenance troubleshooting and specialized field services for electrical infrastructure renewable energy assets and energy storage systems. As a Special Projects Electrical O&M Technician (Level 3) you will serve as a senior technical field resource for complex inspections specialized project execution advanced troubleshooting commissioning support and critical system diagnostics. You will independently own assigned project sites lead field activities oversee subcontracted labor mentor technicians and follow a capability-based development pathway to Technician Level 4.
INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE WELCOME

Candidates with experience in electrical construction industrial maintenance manufacturing telecommunications HVAC electrical systems and controls utilities power generation data centers heavy equipment military electrical occupations renewable energy or related technical fields are encouraged to apply. Essential Functions
Safety & Field Leadership
- Promote and lead by example in establishing a strong culture of safety in all special project work.
- Safely perform approved hazardous electrical energy control procedures and select task-appropriate PPE.
- Create review and execute advanced hazardous electrical energy control procedures including PLOTO and LOTO switch plans for management approval.
- Serve as work leader for Pre-Job Briefs Job Safety Analyses Personal LOTO and approved switch-plan LOTO activities.
- Identify mitigate and immediately report hazardous conditions; exercise stop-work authority when needed.
Special Projects Execution & Maintenance
- Assist the Director Special Projects in planning and executing specialized projects in accordance with procedures schedules milestones deliverables and quality requirements.
- Lead complex visual mechanical and electrical inspections testing preventive maintenance repairs retrofit work and commissioning support for electrical infrastructure power generation assets renewable energy systems and energy storage systems.
- Perform advanced preventive and predictive maintenance using infrared thermography insulation resistance testing continuity and isolation testing I/V curve tracing when applicable and other diagnostic methods.
- Conduct on-site work observations and quality assurance inspections and provide technical direction when required.
- Lead and support subcontracted labor and junior technicians to help ensure work meets safety quality performance and documentation standards.
Advanced Diagnostics & Project Support
- Use monitoring platforms SCADA systems Data Acquisition Systems (DAS) and electrical test equipment to identify equipment and system performance issues.
- Independently diagnose and troubleshoot complex electrical control communication grid-integration and operational issues using structured root cause analysis.
- Work safely around AC and DC equipment including systems operating up to 600Vac and 1500Vdc when appropriately trained qualified and authorized.
- Support project schedules milestones deliverables technical scopes and the development of accurate client proposals.
- Provide input into project budgets track project-level expenditures and communicate technical and schedule risks with potential mitigation strategies.
Documentation Reporting & Mentorship
- Record and report faults deficiencies and nonconformances observed during site activities.
- Create and maintain detailed documentation of inspections maintenance testing repairs and commissioning activities using the company CMMS platform.
- Prepare technical reports risk analyses findings summaries and site performance presentations for management and clients.
- Accurately document time materials expenses and travel and provide documentation guidance to junior technicians.
- Provide field instruction technical guidance and supportive mentorship to junior technicians.
- Contribute to improving the clarity technical accuracy and safety content of company training materials and SOPs.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Four or more years of progressively responsible experience with commercial industrial utility mission-critical mobile-equipment or other complex electrical systems.
- Demonstrated experience leading advanced electrical troubleshooting maintenance testing commissioning or field-service activities.
- Advanced ability to read and interpret electrical schematics single-line diagrams control drawings engineering plans and construction as-builts.
- Strong knowledge of AC and DC electrical systems power distribution controls protection equipment and systematic root cause analysis.
- OSHA 30-Hour certification and NFPA 70E certification or ability to obtain within a company-established timeframe.
- Valid drivers license and clean driving record.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 75% on short notice and work outside traditional business hours.
Preferred
- Associate degree in electrical engineering technology or a related technical field electrical apprenticeship military electrical training or equivalent field experience.
- Experience with medium-voltage and low-voltage distribution switchgear relays transformers inverters industrial controls SCADA DAS telecommunications HVAC controls generators or utility infrastructure.
- Proficiency with multimeters clamp meters insulation resistance testers thermal imaging cameras power quality analyzers isolation testers and other advanced diagnostic equipment.
- Solar PV operations maintenance installation commissioning or advanced troubleshooting experience is a plus.
- Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) maintenance commissioning controls or troubleshooting experience is a plus.
- Electrical Journeyman license NETA NCCER NABCEP FAA Part 107 energy storage certification or similar technical credential is a plus.

- Proven ability to work independently make sound field decisions within assigned authority and escalate risk appropriately.
- Demonstrated ability to lead mentor and build effective working relationships with technicians clients and subcontracted labor.
- Excellent written and verbal communication with high attention to detail and technical accuracy.
- Ability to transfer expertise from another electrical industry and quickly learn renewable energy equipment systems and operating practices.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to drive a vehicle confidently and with a high degree of safety.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and walk distances up to three miles per day across active job sites and uneven or rugged terrain.
- Ability to climb ladders stairs scaffolding and ramps while maintaining three points of contact.
- Visual acuity for depth perception full field of vision and the ability to differentiate colors.
- Comfort working in a variety of climate conditions including temperatures above 100 F or below 32 F for extended periods.
- Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.

The expected annual compensation range for this position is $92000 - $115000 encompassing base pay and potential incentive target opportunity. This range is a good faith estimate based on the positions requirements. Specific compensation offered to the selected candidate may vary depending on factors such as relevant knowledge skills training experience and market conditions.
