Job Summary

The New York City Housing Authority seeks a Special Projects Coordinator for the Public Housing Tenancy Operations Department (PHTO). This position reports to the Vice President and Director and will work closely with PHTO leadership staff and other departments on Authority and PHTO priorities.

PHTO supports Trust and PACT conversions from public housing to project-based Section 8 LIHTC compliance at LLC developments and property managements Section 8 and general tenancy administration functions at Trust and LLC developments. The department consists of 32 staff.

The Special Projects Coordinator role is under the general direction of the PHTO Director and Vice President with latitude for independent initiative and judgment. The position will support unit functions related to PACT and Trust conversions and Mixed Finance Oversight which helps guide properties (and their residents) who engage with a combination of community development programs including Section 8 Low Income Housing Tax Credits and Public Housing.

This is a critical position on a dynamic team that prioritizes excellent communication skills process-orientation and collaboration. Great organization detail-orientation analytic skills and ability to drive multiple projects independently and within deadlines are a must.

The Special Projects Coordinator focus on:
-Program performance analysis and reporting.
-Document process and procedure/maintaining procedural guides.
-Develop and maintain communication and program support materials such as presentations checklists training collateral etc. for improved stakeholder and community engagement.
-Help PHTO better leverage existing system tools.
-Liaise with IT and others on system enhancements/issues/changes.
-Provide general administrative and project support.
-Assist with special projects.

Qualifications :

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to 1 or 2 above. However all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in 1 above.
