Job Description

Job Title: Special Projects Coordinator

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Reports To: Director of Special Projects

Supervises: No

Summary: Works with assigned team(s) of Inspectors and plan reviewers responsible for conducting a range of trade specific inspections and plan reviews on special projects ensuring integrity management by verifying that the construction retrofit or repair work in the field is performed in accordance with applicable drawings plans specifications and contract documents. This hands-on role also performs billable inspection and plan review duties /- 50% of time worked.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Supervisory:

Plans organizes assigns supervises and reviews the work of assigned staff in the area of special projects.

Trains staff in work and safety procedures and in the operation of equipment and supplies. Implements procedures and standards.

Counsels employees and provides effective guidance for improvement.

Monitors operations and activities of the work unit recommend improvements and modifications.

Inspects and verifies work of assigned employees for accuracy proper work methods techniques and compliance with applicable standards and specifications.

Inspections:

Performs trade specific code and/ or Quality Control inspections and plan reviews on various phases/ aspects of special project construction retrofit periodic re-inspection or related projects.

Prepares detailed written and electronic reports of inspection observations and results and issues notices of compliance or correction. Maintains organized records of all activities per regulations.

Explains and interprets code and/or quality control regulations or requirements to Contractor and/ or client. Recognizes evaluates and properly resolves unique problems or situations.

Verifies proper storage and handling of materials and equipment at the worksite.

Develops and maintains effective customer service relationships with clients and the public through responsiveness to inquiries and accessibility to demand.

Assists the inspection and plan review management team and maintains line of communication with staff and client.

Regular and predictable attendance is required.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience:

Associates degree (Bachelors Degree preferred) in an engineering or technical field with at least 2 years in an Inspection Supervisor role; or equivalent combination of education experience or certification.

Demonstrated ability to supervise train plan organize schedule assign review and evaluate the work of staff.

Make sound independent decisions within established policy and procedural guidelines.

Ability to read construction drawings alignment sheets and translate to actual field constructability.

Ability to write and/or provide significant input into technical/procedural documents including the Inspection Operations manual.

IT/IS Skills:

Demonstrated knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing spreadsheets document and database software (MS Office Adobe Acrobat Adobe Photoshop). Knowledge and use of digital cameras and photo media programs required.

Work Environment:

An employee in this position typically works in a field environment with daily exposure to a full spectrum of weather and climate variables. Office time is limited.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this Job the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop kneel crouch or crawl and talk or hear.

The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 20 pounds. The vision requirements include ability to adjust focus distance vision and close vision. Travel is requirement is up to 50% dependent on assignment location and duration.
