REPORTS TO: Public Works Director Recreation Center Supervisor
SHIFT: Flexible- including early mornings evenings weekends and holidays
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED. Some College Preferred. Must have a valid Texas drivers license or the ability to obtain one within 90-days of hire.
JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for general business administration operations of the Recreation Center and requires the use of independent judgment initiative and discretion.
SPECIAL SKILLS: An ability to facilitate positive community relations is required. Be able to work with the general public and Recreation Center staff. Computer word processing and typing skills are required.
DUTIES & RESPOSIBILITIES:
Responsible for operations of the citys Recreation Center.
Supervises Recreation Center staff programs
Collecting and accounting for receipts from department programs
Develop and operate activity programs for the community
General maintenance and upkeep of the Recreation Center and pool
Inventory control
Processing purchase orders
Resolving customers problems and/or complaints
Scheduling and coordinating spring activities games and practices.
Be capable of producing brochures flyers and other advertising materials to promote public participation in scheduled program activities.
Formulate and supervise employee work assignments and employee work schedules.
Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required
Be able to work a flexible schedule.
Must have good comprehension and communication skills and be a quick learner and apply learned skills to the task at hand
Requires a self-starting individual who can follow instructions and take charge
Show initiative and see that routine as well as special projects are followed through and completed in a timely manner without continuous prompting.
Demonstrated ability to be dependable organized flexible and service oriented.
Extensive knowledge of recreational programming and of aquatics activities and skill in promoting recreational facilities.
Knowledge of Recreation operations.
Computer skills to include skill in the use of facility management software.
Possession of excellent interpersonal skills with customers from various backgrounds staff and city administration.
Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with the public customers staff and city administration.
Ability to work flexible hours.

Physical: Employee is required to sit walk frequently carry objects occasionally may need to move department equipment or supplies in excess of 50 pounds.
Mental: Must be able to work in a pressure environment handling many work assignments at the same time. Job will require judgment decisions in prioritizing work assignments and addition the Special Program Coordinator must be able to maintain good employee relations and good community relations when dealing with irate or unhappy citizens acting in a professional manner.
All municipal employees will be expected to show and maintain a high level of initiative enthusiasm and motivation towards the improvement of ALL aspects of the Freeport community. Employees will also be expected to be available for work to report to work in a dependable and timely fashion and to be physically and mentally fit to do their assigned work.
Must pass a drug analysis test physical exam and successfully complete a background check.
