Lake Pointe Academy (LPA) is a non-profit organization serving children with autism ADHD learning disabilities and other neurodevelopmental differences in Hood County and surrounding areas. Our integrated model blends clinical therapy specialty education and family support offering a unique environment for both students and staff.
Position Overview
We are seeking a passionate adaptable Special Education Teacher to join our specialty K-12 school program. The teacher will develop and deliver individualized evidence-based instruction for neurodiverse learners collaborating with therapists and families to support student success.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement individualized lesson plans using UDL principles
- Adapt curriculum and instruction to meet diverse learning needs
- Collect and analyze student progress data
- Collaborate with therapy team (ABA mental health speech OT)
- Communicate regularly with families and caregivers
- Maintain compliance with Texas Education Agency FERPA and licensure requirements
- Participate in ongoing professional development and staff training
Qualifications
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Special Education or related field
- Texas Special Education certification (or eligibility)
- Experience teaching students with autism ADHD or learning disabilities
- Strong communication collaboration and classroom management skills
- Commitment to trauma-informed inclusive education
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
