Job Description

Position: Teacher

Reports to:Executive Director Wage/Hour Status: Exempt

Primary Purpose

The Teacheris responsible fordelivering instruction implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and ensuring compliance with all instructional behavioral therapeutic and safety protocols. The Teacher will design andmodifycurriculum document student progress and oversee staff and instructional supportsin accordance withschool policiesMinimumStandards and applicable regulations. Responsibilities include collaborating with colleagues to support students functional academic behavioral motor communication and dailyliving skillsdevelopment.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited institution or documented equivalent work experience.

Preferred:

  • Valid teaching certificate or equivalent coursework (minimum 12 hours in subject-area coursework).

  • Experience with curriculum development instructional compliance and student documentation.

  • Demonstrated understanding of child development and instructional methodologies.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of curriculum instruction and compliance requirements related to special education.

  • Ability to implement IEP goals instructional accommodations and data collection procedures with fidelity.

  • Ability to manage student behavior using approved interventions and crisis-response protocols.

  • Ability to supervise train and direct Teacher Assistants in compliance with school standards.

  • Proficientinorganizational communication documentation and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiencywith technology adaptive equipment and assistive technology.

  • Ability to produceaccurateandtimelyrecords progress reports and required documentation.

Major Responsibilities

Instructional Practices

  • Developmodify and implement instructional plans aligned with IEP requirements student ability levels and program standards.

  • Maintain written lesson plans anddocumentationdemonstratingcompliance with curriculum and instructional guidelines.

  • Deliver instruction using approved methods accommodations and assistivesupportsappropriate tostudent needs.

  • Administer and document assessments to inform instruction and evaluate student progress.

  • Collaborate withtherapists staff and administrators todetermineinstructional goals and ensure alignment with IEPs.

  • Plan assign and supervisetheduties of Teacher Assistants and volunteers to ensure compliance with instructional and safety procedures.

  • Integrate technology adaptive tools and instructional resources asappropriate.

Student Growth and Development

  • Document daily student progress behavioral data and instructional outcomesin accordance withreporting requirements.

  • Provide supervision and support for personal care medical needs feeding anddaily-livingskills consistent with training and procedural guidelines.

  • Maintain communication with families through conferencesemailmessagesand approved communication procedures.

  • Participate in required student-relatedactivitiesincludingCamp Chasefield trips holiday events open houses fundraisers accreditation activities and community outreach as assigned.

  • Serve as a positive professional role model aligned withthe schoolsmission and behavioral expectations.

Classroom Management and Organization

  • Establish andmaintaina safe orderly classroom environment thatcomplies withphysical social emotional and instructional guidelines.

  • Implement and document behavioral intervention strategies consistently andin accordance withcrisis-management protocols.

  • Maintain and support the protection of students equipment instructional materials and facilities following all safety guidelines.

  • Assistin selecting instructional materials technology and equipment needed for program compliance.

Communication

  • Maintain opentimely and compliant communication with students caregivers colleagues and administrators.

  • Present information clearly accurately and professionally in written and verbal communication.

Professional Growth and Development

  • Attend mandatory staff meetings trainings and school events as assigned.

  • Maintain professionalism in interactions with colleagues students families volunteers and community members.

  • Comply withattendance punctuality and absence-notification procedures.

  • Maintain all required physical and electronic documentation reports and recordsin accordance withschool policy and standards.

  • Adhere strictly to confidentiality requirements under school policy and applicable regulations.

  • Provide leadership and training to Teacher Assistants in compliance with school expectations.

  • Demonstrate ongoing professional learning through research coursework and participation in staff development activities.

  • Follow all school policies procedures and Minimum Standards and ensure compliance among supervised staff.

Policy Implementation

  • Uphold and enforce campus policies instructional expectations safety protocols and school philosophy.

  • Ensure instructional content and deliveryfollowestablished guidelines and regulatory requirements.

  • Maintain awareness of and compliance with all school procedures andpolicyupdates.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervise train and support assigned Teacher Assistants to ensure compliance with instructional behavioral and safety standards.

  • Provide direction feedback and oversight consistent with the schools expectations and documentation procedures.

Mental Demands

  • Ability to interpret and implement policy; communicate effectively;maintainfocus and emotional regulation under stress; and follow procedural expectations.

Physical Demands / Environmental Factors

  • Occasional prolonged or irregular hours may berequiredto meet school needs.

  • Frequent standing bending lifting kneeling pushing pulling andassistingwith student mobility.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds in accordance with safety training.

  • Frequent computer usage and repetitive hand motions for documentation.

  • Exposure to bacteria communicable diseases or bodily fluids following universal precautions.

  • May encounter aggressive or self-injurious student behaviors; must utilize approved de-escalation and restraint techniques as trained.
