Supervisor for Special Education (Early Childhood and Elementary)

We are seeking a collaborative and student-centered Special Education Supervisor who will provide instructional leadership for our early childhood and elementary special education programs. The successful candidate will join a high-functioning administrative team committed to innovation continuous improvement and ensuring that every decision reflects what is best for students. This leader must be equally comfortable working collaboratively across departments while exercising independent judgement to support students families and staff in complex situations.

- Masters degree or higher in Special Education Educational Leadership or related field.
- Full approval in at least one area of special education
- Eligibility for full approval as a Supervisor or Director of Special Education in addition to an administrator certification.
- Successful administrative experience providing or supervising special education services in early childhood and/or elementary settings is strongly preferred; Demonstrated knowledge of early childhood special education elementary instructional practices MTSS and inclusive service delivery models is highly desired.
- Demonstrated administrative ability and experience in collaborative skills and attitudes to work with others in teams effective interpersonal communication skills creativity problem-solving and flexibility.
- High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively balance independent decision-making with collaborative leadership across multidisciplinary teams.

REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Special Education
SUPERVISES: Early Childhood and Elementary entructional and ancillary support personnel
JOB GOAL: To ensure special education programs and services are provided to students who are eligible
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides instructional and operational leadership to ensure high-quality special education programming that is legally compliant student-centered and aligned with district priorities.
- Provides for the use of appropriate curriculum materials and educational technology in special education programs.
- Partners with principals district leaders and multidisciplinary teams to build inclusive learning environments where students with disabilities are successful.
- Works with district/building leadership and staff to use data information and research to set priorities evaluate school programs and collaborate for improved results for students.
- Assists district/building leadership and staff in interpreting curriculum expectations including Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) selecting appropriate instructional and social-emotional resources developing differentiation strategies and making the curriculum relevant for all students per the Districts Strategic Plan and the School Improvement Plan.
- Uses working knowledge of effective instruction in establishing school processes and routines that engage teachers/staff in routine monitoring of student progress and evaluation interventions and improvement of instructional strategies which meet the individualized needs of students.
- Works with district/building leadership and staff to establish building and district systems processes trainings and shared leadership to ensure full compliance with the IDEA and Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE).
- Monitors evaluates and ensures development and implementation of quality evaluations IEPs referrals transition planning re-evaluations and provision of a free appropriate public education.
- Assists the Executive Director in evaluating existing programs as an ongoing responsibility and recommends changes and additions as needed.
Supervises and coordinates instruction for homebound hospitalized and/or out of district students.
- Assists principals and Executive Director in the evaluation of special education teachers ancillary staff and building based teacher consultant programs.
- Assists in the recruitment selection and recommendation for hiring of any Special Education personnel.
- Coordinates meetings with non-public administrators provides training and guidance to non-public providers and oversees the compliance of non-public service plans and Proportionate Share reporting.
SALARY: $95985 TO $109351
The successful candidate will be eligible for a comprehensive benefit package including Health Dental and Life Insurance paid holidays vacation and sick days as well as any other applicable benefits per the RAA Agreement.
