Special Education Literacy Teacher Consultant

SUMMARY:

Provide evidence-based literacy instruction assessment and intervention support within LISD operated special education programs using science of reading practices and MTSS frameworks.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Required:

• Haveexperience as a successful Special Education classroom teacher.
• Havesufficient knowledge of scientifically based reading research specialexpertise in quality reading instructionandinfusing reading strategies into content area instruction anddata management skills.
• Have astrong knowledge base in working with teachers and other classroom staff.
• Have aminimum of a bachelors degree in education and advanced coursework in readingor have completed professional development in evidence-based literacy instructional strategies.

Preferred:

• Reading Specialist certification LETRS training or the equivalent amount of training focused on research-based practices in early literacy

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES LICENSES and REGISTRATIONS

• Valid Michigan Special Education Teacher Certificate

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

188 days salary and fringe benefits per LIEA master contract. Exempt.
