Job Summary

Special Education Facilitator

Job Summary:

  • Compliance & Legal Oversight:Monitor special education documentation ensuring all Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 plans meet federal and state regulations (e.g. IDEA).
  • Meeting Leadership: Facilitate IEP and multidisciplinary team meetings often serving as the designated LEA representative.
  • Instructional Leadership & Coaching: Model support and train teachers on evidence-based instructional strategies behavior management techniques and accommodations.
  • Data-Driven Progress: Collect and analyze student performance and progress data to help teams make informed decisions about interventions and goal adjustments.
  • Stakeholder Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact between parents general/special education teachers and district administration regarding special education programming.
  • Professional Development:Design and deliver training for school staff on special education procedures laws and inclusionary practices

Certification and Qualifications: Certification and Qualification:Valid Indiana Teaching License with Special Education certification.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assess and document student progress providing feedback to students and parents.
  2. Participate in staff meetings training sessions and collaborative planning.
  3. Supervise students during school activities field trips and breaks.
  4. Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet students varying needs.
  5. Maintain accurate records of student attendance grades and behavior.
  6. Comply with school policies state regulations and ethical teaching standards.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during classroom instruction and supervision.
  2. Manual dexterity to operate classroom technology and equipment.
  3. Visual and auditory ability to monitor student behavior and respond to classroom situations.
  4. Ability to move quickly in response to student safety needs.
  5. Ability to perform light physical activitiessuch as bending kneeling and reachingas required in a classroom setting as well as lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
