Spatial Transcriptomic Postdoc Scientist

Position Overview

As a Postdoctoral Scientist you will serve as a key technical transcriptomics expert within Plant Biotechnology at Bayer Crop Science R&D. You will be responsible for the execution and analysis of single-cell or spatial transcriptomics and technical reporting. With a focus on functional genomics you will provide insights to support decision-making problem-solving and pipeline innovation.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyze spatial transcriptomic data for quality assessment and evaluation of experimental success;
  • Conduct in-depth data analyses and design controlled experiments in collaboration with cross-functional partners coordinating their implementation to enable project success;
  • Establish and optimize RNA sequencing protocols for single-cell or spatial transcriptomics applications;
  • Understand and anticipate broader project/team interests identifying proposing and performing complementary analyses to enrich insights from multiple modalities/data layers;
  • Demonstrate commitment to inclusion and safety adhering to safety protocols and best practices;
  • Maintain detailed record-keeping and required documentation;
  • Thrive on meeting challenges insisting on high-quality deliverables and demonstrating effective problem-solving skills while building productive external and internal relationships;
  • Conduct complex activities that require specialized knowledge and the broad application of scientific principles;
  • Take initiative in keeping current with literature in areas of assignment and professional interest.

WHO YOU ARE

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in a biological/biomedical molecular or cell biology genetics/genomics computational field or similar area;
  • Experience with next-generation sequencing library preparation;
  • Experience with next-generation transcriptomics analysis or a related area;
  • Familiarity with innovative or emerging fields of study.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with spatial transcriptomics methodologies for analysis;
  • Experience working in a Linux environment and at least one programming language (Python R etc.);
  • Library preparation for cell-based resolution transcriptomics techniques (such as single-cell RNA sequencing or spatial transcriptomics libraries);
  • Experience with agricultural specimens;
  • Experience collaborating across multiple teams fostering a team-based approach to research and leveraging partnerships;
  • Experience clearly communicating project plans and experimental results with partners and stakeholders maintaining alignment on objectives and priorities.

Location:Chesterfield Missouri (St. Louis area). Domestic relocation may be available for this role. The employment type for this role is limited and has a duration not to exceed 24 months.

Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $78640.00 - $117960.00 Additional compensation may include a bonus or incentive compensation (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care vision dental retirement PTO sick leave etc.. This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicants location market data/ranges an applicants skills and prior relevant experience certain degrees and certifications and other relevant factors.
