Sous Chef
We are seeking an experienced and talented Sous Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills a passion for culinary excellence and the ability to support the Executive Chef in delivering exceptional dining experiences. As the Sous Chef you will play a key role in overseeing kitchen operations ensuring high standards of food quality and maintaining a positive and productive kitchen environment.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Assist the Executive Chef in planning and directing food preparation and culinary activities
- Supervise and mentor kitchen staff including line cooks prep cooks and dishwashers
- Ensure that all dishes are prepared to the highest standards of quality and presentation
- Oversee the kitchen during service ensuring smooth operations and timely delivery of dishes
- Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed
- Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef to create and develop new menu items
- Manage kitchen staff schedules and assignments
- Conduct regular training sessions to enhance the skills and knowledge of kitchen staff
- Assist with budgeting and cost control efforts to maximize efficiency and profitability
- Handle customer inquiries and special requests regarding food preparation
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role within a professional kitchen
- Strong knowledge of cooking techniques food safety and sanitation practices
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle stressful situations
- Creativity and a passion for culinary innovation
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Flexibility to work evenings weekends and holidays as required
- Culinary degree or equivalent certification is a plus
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift carry and move heavy items including equipment and supplies weighing up to50 pounds.
- Prolonged periods of standing and moving throughout the kitchen
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for performing precise culinary tasks
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks with precision and efficiency
- Strong physical stamina to handle the demands of a fast-paced work environment
