Description

The Coordinator of Sorority and Fraternity Life is a live-in staff member that works within Residence Sorority and Fraternity Life to support the advancement growth and sustainability of fraternal organizations at Emory University. The community is comprised of four governing councils: Interfraternity Council (10) Multicultural Greek Council (6) National Pan-Hellenic Council (6) and Panhellenic Council (8). This position will advance the community by uplifting the learning goals of the department: gain a sense of belonging develop a greater understanding of self and others individual and social responsibility and engage intellectually outside of the classroom.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Advises 1-2 of Emorys four governing councils (EPC/IFC/MGC/NPHC) by providing development support and vision.
  • Conducts developmental one-on-one meetings with council and chapter leaders.
  • Coordinates departmental assessments to measure the effectiveness of initiatives and programs offered by the Office of Sorority and Fraternity Life (OSFL).
  • Develops and sustains partnerships with advisors alumni (inter)national organizations and other community stakeholders through regular communication.
  • Assists chapter advisors by providing resources to support chapter stability and advancement.
  • Provides oversight coordination and assistance for recruitment/intake processes. Assists with the planning and implementation of key departmental program initiatives.
  • Responsible for maintaining expense records and budgeting for specific council(s) and departmental programs. Serves on a 24 hour on-call crisis response team rotation.

Additional Duties:

  • Collaborates with Student Conduct on judicial matters pertaining to students within the sorority and fraternity community.
  • Collaborates with campus partners to provide resources and educational opportunities. Collaborates with campus partners by serving on University committees.
  • Assists with community-wide signature events.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelors degree and two years of relevant professional experience; a masters degree with relevant experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in the areas of student development program coordination crisis response student leader advisement leadership development and conflict management.
  • Cultural competency and an ability to work with a diverse population.
  • Evidence of strong advising skills and experience in policy and enforcement in a sorority and fraternity setting.
  • Experience creating policies practices and procedures for sorority and fraternity life.
  • Sensitivity to student needs and the ability to relate on many different levels to a diverse community of students faculty administrative staff employers parents and community contacts.
  • Effective communication writing presentation facilitation and organizational skills.

NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
