This is a paid internship. Compensation for this position begins at $29.00 per hour.
Role Summary:
Quantum Signal AI (QSAI) is looking for a Software Engineering Intern Tools and Prototypes to help develop engineering tooling and prototype software for the summer of 2027. Our applications range from specialized engineering tools to prototypes for advanced vehicle features that are used by engineers researchers and designers at Ford and QSAI. Interns will work alongside experienced engineers throughout the software development lifecycle and gain hands-on experience solving real engineering problems in a fast-paced R&D environment. A standout candidate will have experience in compiled languages (C Go etc.) scripting languages (Python JavaScript etc.) web development and software projects outside of an academic setting. We value the ability to quickly learn new technology to meet changing requirements so a desire to learn is important!
Location:
Saline Michigan (In-person). Our historic schoolhouse office supports hands-on collaboration mentorship and real-time problem solving.
What Youll Do (Essential Functions):
- Contribute to projects across the full Software Development Lifecycle from design and implementation to testing and release management
- Collaborate within varied project teams to develop tooling to improve engineering workflows
- Translate ideas specifications and/or requirements into high-quality implementations
- Tackle the challenges of learning integrating and leveraging a range of software tools and technologies as needed
- Develop documentation for software processes and projects
- Create and maintain build processes and CI/CD pipelines
What Youll Bring (Minimum Requirements):
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate degree-seeking program pursuing a degree in Computer Science Computer Engineering Software Engineering or a related field
- Maintainingstudent status for the entire duration of the internship including the academic term immediately following the internship
- Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals including data structures algorithms object-oriented programming debugging networking and file systems
- Previous work/internship or academic club experience developing software
- Proficiency developing software in a compiled language (C Go etc.)
- Experience with scripting languages (Python JavaScript etc.)
- Experience working in both Linux- and Windows-based environments
- Familiarity with web development (HTML CSS JS etc.)
Bonus Points For:
- Coursework or equivalent experience in operating systems databases compilers concurrency and other high level computer science topics
- Experience with REST APIs either through integrating with existing APIs or designing APIs for downstream consumers
- Experience with modern web development frameworks and technologies ( React Typescript Flask etc.)
- Experience with cloud-based development/deployment via GCP or equivalent cloud provider
- Experience integrating Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions into an application (Microsoft Entra RBAC MSAL authentication and authorization APIs)
