As a Virtualisation engineer you will have a majornimpact on the design and implementation of Apples virtual machines and virtualisationnframeworks. You will also collaborate with experts across Apples software and hardwarenorganizations to virtualise operating system products. We are looking for a passionatencandidate who wants to work on products that affect the lives of millions of users.

The Virtualisation team is looking for a talented systems engineer to join the virtualised devicesngroup. Our team builds the foundational technologies for supporting external devices withinnvirtual machines spanning hardware passthrough and software device emulation. Wevenshipped USB passthrough support in the Virtualisation framework and created thenAccessoryAccess framework and were expanding the scope of both. This role touches kernelnuser-space and guest OS boundaries and we value broad systems fluency and the ability tonpick up new device technologies over deep prior expertise in any single one.

Contribute to the Virtualisation and AccessoryAccess frameworks.n Design and implement support for external devices in virtual machines.n Write high-quality well-tested maintainable code in C and Swift.n Design and implement test suites to ensure reliability and correctness across the stack.n Debug complex issues spanning kernel user-space and guest operating system layers.n Optimize performance of virtualised devices.n Work cross-functionally with drivers frameworks and QA teams to deliver integratednsolutions.n Participate in code reviews and technical design discussions.n Pick up new subsystems and device technologies as team priorities evolve.

Strong C programming skills.n Strong understanding of operating systems internals and systems programming.n Demonstrated ability to work effectively across different layers of a software stack ( user-space framework application).n Excellent collaborative skills with strong written and verbal communication.n Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in computer science or a related field.

Knowledge of USB or other device/bus technologies.n Familiarity with virtualisation/hypervisor concepts.n Experience with device emulation or hardware passthrough/redirection.n Driver development experience.n Swift programming skills.
