Job Description
The Software Engineer II is an early- to mid-career contributor that has a combination of formal education and experience in the software engineering field. They are responsible for the research design development analysis testing and implementation of software operating or application systems. They communicate project information to client project manager or other design personnel working on projects. They maintain good working relationships with clients and staff. They write and maintain complete documentation. They support team members and ensure established goals and deadlines are met. They keep management informed of status and significant problems.As a Software Engineer II you will play a key role in building and maintaining systems that support student success. You will contribute to the design development and delivery of software solutions while collaborating with cross-functional partners to ensure reliable scalable and high-quality outcomes.
- Contribute to the design development testing and implementation of software systems
- Collaborate with engineers stakeholders and project partners to deliver solutions aligned to requirements
- Translate functional and technical requirements into code and system designs
- Support troubleshooting and resolution of system issues to minimize downtime
- Participate in team knowledge sharing and continuous improvement efforts
- Maintain clear documentation and communicate project status and risks
- Ensure solutions meet quality performance and timeline expectations
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science Information Technology or related field
- 3-5 years of experience developing web-based applications and web services using Java REST and related technologies
- 2 years of experience with Java (Spring or similar) and JavaScript frameworks such as React or Angular
- Experience interfacing with databases and integrating third-party systems
- Understanding of software development processes including coding testing and system design
- Ability to design scalable reliable systems and interpret technical requirements into solutions
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
- Experience with Agile or Scrum development practices
- Familiarity with tools such as IntelliJ VS Code JIRA and Git
- Experience with cloud-native development or migrating applications to cloud environments
Equivalent relevant experience performing the essential functions of this job may substitute for education requirements. Generally equivalent relevant experience is defined as 1 year of experience for 1 year of education at the discretion of the hiring manager.

This is a full-time in-office position requiring five days per week in our Salt Lake City UT office designed to foster the collaboration and connection that fuel our best work.
This position requires occasional travel of up to 20% including required attendance at designated company summits (typically one to two per year). Additional travel may include conferences visits to company locations and other business-related events as needed. Additional travel may be assigned as needed to support business requirements.
