The Opportunity
The Cloud Platform team at Wyze builds the scalable reliable and secure backend that powers our smart home ecosystem. As a Software Engineer on this team you will design develop and operate core cloud services that support millions of devices and users worldwide. Youll join a high-impact group that owns the foundation for current and next-generation Wyze products. Youll work closely with mobile firmware data and product teams to evolve our platform as we take on new device types new AI experiences and increased global scale.
This role is a strong fit for an engineer who is not only excited by distributed systems and production-grade backend work but also curious about the product itself - someone who looks beyond how a device works today and thinks about how software intelligence and platform capabilities can make it more useful for customers over time. WhatYoullDo
- Design and develophighly scalablehighly availablecloud servicesusingJava (Spring Boot)and cloud-native technologies.
- Build andoptimizemicroservices and APIsto support Wyze smart devices mobile apps and partner integrations.
- Own services end-to-end:design implementation testing deployment and production operations.
- Ensurereliability observability and performancethrough robust monitoring alerting and logging solutions.
- Utilize AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code GitHub Copilot Cursor etc.) to accelerate cloud infrastructure work including scripting IaC authoring and troubleshooting.
- Implement and enforcesecurity best practicesacross authentication authorization data access and service communication.
- Troubleshoot debug and resolveproduction incidents and performance bottlenecks driving root cause analysis and preventive fixes.
- Participate incode reviews design reviews and technical documentation and help raise the engineering bar on the team
What You Bring
- 3 yearsof experience in backend development withJava Go or Python
- Hands-on experience withpublic cloud platforms(AWS GCP or Azure) andcloud-native architectures(microservices containers managed services)
- Strong knowledge of microservices and distributed systems (scalability resilience consistency and latency)
- Experience withSQL and NoSQL databases(PostgreSQL MySQL DynamoDB etc.) including schema design and query optimization
- Demonstrated ability to incorporate AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code GitHub Copilot Cursor etc.) into day-to-day workflows to accelerate velocity
- Strongproblem-solving skills solid understanding ofsystems and networking fundamentals and the ability to debug complex issues in production
- Ability to work in a fastpaced iterative environment collaborate crossfunctionally with product/firmware/mobile/data teams and take ownership of projects from design to delivery

- Genuine excitement about how AI can expand what products can do for customers in real-world settings
- Examples of side projects open-source work prototypes home automations or other builder-style work that demonstrate curiosity creativity and passion for technology

*This roleparticipatesin a cloud on-call rotation for approximately one week each month to support critical production systems.
