AWS Route 53 Resolver team has an open position for Software Development Engineer for Cloud security service development in Arlington VA / Herndon VA / Seattle WA USA.

Were looking for a mid-level Software Development Engineer to join the Amazon Route 53 Global Resolver team. Our team builds and operates a globally distributed DNS resolution service that enables AWS customers to securely resolve internal and external DNS names across regions networks and hybrid environments. You will help ensure that DNS queries are resolved securely reliably and within milliseconds for enterprise customers running workloads across VPCs on-prem and edge locations.

As an SDE This is a rare opportunity to build a new AWS service from its preview launch toward global scale. You will work across the entire stackcontrol plane data plane API surfaces and deep integrations with AGA EC2 Networking DNS Firewall and Route 53 core systems. You will also help drive the system architecture spearhead best practices that enable a quality product and help coach and develop junior engineers. A successful candidate will have an established background in engineering large scale networking software great communication skills and a motivation to achieve results in a fast paced environment.

At Amazon Web Services we like to work backwards: start by understanding what customers need and using that to guide our software engineering. Were looking for a software engineer who is experienced in listening to customers synthesizing their needs and rapidly iterating our services to quickly put features into customers hands. Our best ideas become even better when we get feedback from real customer use. The sooner we can get that feedback the more quickly we can grow.

This position will be part of the Amazon Route 53 team. Amazon Route 53 is a highly available and scalable Domain Name System (DNS) service offered by Amazon Web Services. We operate in over 50 locations worldwide and provide advanced functionality such as Private DNS DNS Firewall DNS resolver and integration with a plethora of AWS services. On top of that we offer fast change propagation with a 100% availability SLA. Our service is quickly growing and were expanding in multiple directions: adding new features and functionality to our DNS services better traffic management new AWS integrations improving our health check capabilities and expanding with new security services and routing space.

We work on deep technical problems that span a variety of core topics in computer science ranging from databases to networking to distributed systems to numerical analysis to security. We are looking for a developer who will lead the team and who feels strongly not only about building good software but also about running that software in the real world.

- 3 years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2 years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language

- 3 years of full software development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing and operations experience
- Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience qualifications and location.
