Position: Social Worker (2 openings)

Reports To: Executive Director Student Services

Supervises: None

Qualifications:

  1. Masters Degree in Social Work or equivalent required.
  2. Social Work licensure preferred.
  3. Satisfy all district requirements with regards to physical health and citizenship.
  4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Position Goals: Identify and assist students families and the school district in overcoming barriers that interfere with learning through the use of counseling consultation coordination of school and community resources and program development.

Essential Functions andResponsibilities:

  1. Provide consistent ongoing support for students dealing with situations affecting their educational progress such as death mental health issues chronic poverty or homelessness divorce physical health or hygiene issues etc.
  2. Conduct needs assessments for students/families.
  3. Counsel with students in order to better meet their needs. Provide crisis intervention as needed.
  4. Assist with referrals to agencies/resources in town for food clothing shelter medical and mental health needs for students. Provide referrals to various community wraparound service agencies for high risk or high needs families.
  5. Assist with Alternative Education Center referrals.
  6. Serve as liaison to homeless students and families or students with no parent contact with the school.
  7. Assist with requests made by family members for services.
  8. Assist English Language Learner and immigrant students and families.
  9. Act as a liaison among Oklahoma Department of Human Services (OKDHS) schools families and community partners.
  10. Attend all required trainings and stay updated on relevant OKDHS and educational policies.
  11. Make home visits as needed.
  12. Offer support guidance and collaboration to staff as needed via consultations or by providing resources.
  13. Access and distribute Education Service Center Family Assistance Funds to help students and families.
  14. Provide end of year report regarding student services.
  15. Maintain confidentiality and comply with FERPA and state laws.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned.

Terms of Employment: Nine (9) months a year. Salary and work year to be established by the Board of Education.

FLSA Qualification: Exempt

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board of Educations policy on Staff Evaluation (2.21/classified).

Occasional Requirements: Reach with hands and arms overhead above shoulder and horizontally; lift/move up to 40 pounds.

Visual Requirements: Close color peripheral depth perception ability to adjust focus.

Hearing/Speaking Requirements: Adequate to exchange information.
