Job Description:

The College of Business is seeking a graduate College of Business student to join the student social media team as a part of the Marketing Communications and Events team.

As a Social Media Specialist you will be responsible for ideating and creating a variety of content such as grid posts videos/reels and graphics (using Canva) for all social media platforms including Instagram TikTok YouTube LinkedIn and Facebook.

This position will work closely with the graduate team and marketing team to contribute to the development of weekly social media plans that align with the goals of the college while ensuring that content remains competitive and on-trend.

Position Duties:

The Social Media Specialist reports to the Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications and will support the needs of the MC&E team and social media team including:

  • Content Creation: Develop high-quality content including photos videos and graphics tailored to each platform to engage our audience effectively.

  • Community Management & Audience Engagement: Actively engage with followers by responding to comments liking tagged photos and reposting relevant content to build a vibrant online community.

  • Trend Monitoring: Stay informed on social media trends and best practices to ensure our content remains competitive and relevant.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Social Media Managers Graphic Designer MC&E Team and Videographer to support stakeholder goals through targeted social media campaigns.

  • In-person event attendance for assistance and content creation

  • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment

  • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard

    • High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program

    • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term

    • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*

    • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term

    • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*


  • *International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered full-time by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by theOffice of International Services(OIS) and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

    Working Conditions/Schedule:
    This job is Hybrid and has the option to start over the summer. Must be Corvallis based.
    Attend weekly meetings: Typically one virtual one-hour meeting. Weekly working hours vary.
    Pay rate for this position is $16.55 per hour.
