Job Summary

Respond to all facilities related trouble calls including emergency calls.Act independently to assess situations troubleshoot problems and take appropriate actions.Possess authority to call trades people in on overtime forassistanceor repair.If necessary alert building occupants and others to potentially dangerous conditions.Provide support andassistanceto members of the Cornell community who are experiencing facility related problem situations (e.g.locked out of room or stuck in an elevator).Document and record all maintenance activities and related billable hours for equipment maintenance records as.
Troubleshoot andmaintainbuilding heating systems (i.e.boilers burners electric and university steam) cooling systems (i.e.package units chillers and university chilled water) and other mechanical and HVACR equipment found in commercial industrial residential and research facilities.
Perform routine and preventive maintenance on facilities equipment

This is a Contract union position within the UAW. The starting pay rate is $32.07/hour.

Werequirethese qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of five years experience in building trades or other relevant mechanical experience.
The position requires a thorough understanding of facilities systems and equipment.
Must have andmaintaina valid US drivers license; may betooperatea motor vehicle (your own vehicle or Cornell-owned) to travel to/from job sites.
Must have excellent communication skills verbal and written as well as excellent customer service skills.
Experience working in a team environment toaccomplishgoals.
Ability to learn andmaintaina working knowledge of the entire campus and building systems.
Ability to read and interpretblue prints drawings techmanualsand detailed work instructions.
Ability to use common test equipment such as multi-meters tension meters alignment tools etc.
Excellent troubleshooting skills.
Demonstrated knowledge of HVAC utilities controls and other support systems in a high technology environment.
Demonstrated ability to use computers.
Must be able to lift and/or move 100lbs.
Ability to work in confined spaces.
Demonstrated ability to work independently.
Delivers heavy material to workers.
The ability to ascend and descend heights and have agility and freedom of movement.
Climbs stairs and ladders.
Able to move easily in confined spaces.
Must be able to wear a respirator.
Subject to shift changes and extended working hours (including nights early mornings eveningsweekendsand holidays) to meet seasonal work demand.
Subject to working in weather related extremes of heat and cold for extended periods as well as exposure to extreme dustdirtand insects including bees.
Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive working relationships with students faculty staff and community members.

Experience with the MAXIMO Computerized Maintenance Management System.
