Job Summary
The Opportunity:
CACI is seeking a SME Scientist and Science Technician II in support of a program whose initiative is aimed at combating evolving and emerging threats supporting related exploitation and replication activities and advancing operational rehearsal exercise wargaming and counter system development. Additionally we are focusing on integration and experimentation including Modeling and Simulation.

Responsibilities:
As an SME Physicist you will conduct research into physical phenomena develop theories based on observation and experiments and devise methods to apply physical laws and theories to support modeling simulation and systems engineering activities. You will provide strategic technical leadership and serve as a principal advisor on complex physics-related challenges within DOD technical programs.
- Conduct research into physical phenomena and develop theories on the basis of observation and experiments
- Devise methods to apply physical laws and theories to support M&S and systems engineering requirements
- Provide subject matter expertise during all phases of the life cycle for assigned weapon systems programs and projects
- Support the development and implementation of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and products
- Perform systems engineering modeling to support concept of operations behavioral analysis system architecture and simulation activities
- Conduct fidelity analysis to determine the appropriate model for the most accurate representation within system-of-systems architecture
- Support Live Virtual Constructive (LVC) simulation environments for large-scale Joint and Coalition exercises
- Provide technical expertise for digital transformation efforts and advanced data analytics including AI/ML applications
- Perform data engineering on simulation data including data cleaning preparation management and integration
- Support verification validation and accreditation (VV&A) of solutions developed or leveraged by DEVCOM and DOD customers
- Participate in technical reviews exercise support field tests and training material reviews
- Provide strategic architecture of organizational systems and high-level policy interpretation for major technology tasks
- Support exercise planning and execution for Combatant Command level exercises
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelors degree in in Physics or a closely related field is often required for research-intensive roles.
10 years of experience or 15 years relevant of experience in lieu of degree.
Advanced physics principles and their application to defense systems
Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and methodologies
Simulation and modeling tools (LVC environments)
Data engineering and analytics
Systems engineering lifecycle processes
Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning applications
Requirements analysis and validation
Technical documentation and reporting
Active Secret clearance
Desired:
Advanced degree (Masters or Ph.D.) in Physics or related field is highly valued
Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies and tools (SysML UPDM UAFML)
Familiarity with DOD M&S environments and toolsets (e.g. JLVC JTLS-GO OneSAF JSAF WARSIM)
Experience supporting INDOPACOM or other Combatant Command exercises
Knowledge of AI/ML frameworks and data science applications to simulation datasets
Experience with systems engineering processes IAW DOD SE guidance and IEEE 15288 standards
Background in digital engineering and data analytics tools
Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification is a plus
