Skills Trainer Project SEARCH

Part-Time 15-18 Hours per Week

Location: On-site at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital Bronxville and/or White Plains Hospital

Are you passionate about helping individuals with disabilities achieve independence and success in the workplace Join our team as a Skills Trainer for Project SEARCH an innovative transition-to-work program that prepares young adults with disabilities for meaningful employment through real-world internship experiences.

As a Skills Trainer you will work alongside the Project SEARCH Instructor business mentors and employer partners to provide individualized support workplace training and coaching to student interns. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to empower young adults as they develop vocational skills confidence and pathways to competitive employment.

Skills Trainer Position Summary

In coordination with the Project SEARCH Instructor the Skills Trainer provides training coaching and support to Project SEARCH student interns and host business mentors. The Skills Trainer assists with the successful integration of students with disabilities into internship and workplace settings while helping create a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Essential Functions:

• Assists in providing individualized support for Project SEARCH interns within their internships at the host business

• Assists in identifying and implementing training strategies natural supports accommodation and/or task analysis in coordination with the Project SEARCH instructor and host business staff
• Support instructor in classroom set-up curriculum delivery and work site rotation planning and implementation
• Consult with host business department employees on tools and techniques that support intern learning and success
• Assist in identification and problem-solving of challenges that interfere with program implementation
• Assists Manager in data collection assessment and data-entry under direction of classroom instructor
• Assists Job Developer in development of resumes/portfolios for interns to document progress and skills

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree preferred; OR High School Diploma/GED with a minimum of three years of experience working with high school-aged or young adult individuals with disabilities in community-based workplace settings.
• Experience supporting individuals with disabilities in educational vocational employment or community environments.
• Ability to work collaboratively as a productive member of a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong interpersonal communication coaching and problem-solving skills.
• Commitment to equity inclusion and person-centered supports.

Preferred

• Ability to travel independently for off-site meetings and the annual Project SEARCH conference.
• Experience with job coaching vocational rehabilitation transition services or supported employment programs.
