Skidding Lead

Our client is a growing manufacturer of custom industrial equipment and material handling solutions. Due to continued growth they are seeking a Manufacturing Skidding Lead to join their Shipping Department.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong mechanical aptitude carpentry skills and experience handling large equipment in a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate is organized safety-focused self-motivated and capable of working independently while also supporting a collaborative team environment.

The Skidding Lead is responsible for coordinating and preparing finished equipment for shipment. This role works closely with Assembly Project Management and Shipping personnel to ensure products are safely disassembled packaged loaded and shipped to customers.

When shipping activity is lighter this individual will assist with assembly and other manufacturing-related projects as needed to support overall production goals.

• Determine appropriate break points for equipment disassembly and shipment
  
• Understand equipment weight distribution to ensure safe rigging and handling
  
• Safely rig and move equipment using overhead cranes forklifts and boom trucks
  
• Build custom wood skids and crates for shipping large industrial equipment
  
• Properly secure equipment for transportation
  
• Maintain inventory of lumber hardware tools and shipping materials
  
• Load and unload incoming and outgoing shipments
  
• Support receiving activities including unloading deliveries and distributing materials
  
• Assist assembly teams with production and manufacturing tasks as needed
  
• Support facility improvement and internal construction projects when required
  

• Strong rough carpentry skills
  
• Experience safely using:
  • Saws
    
  • Nail guns
    
  • Screw guns
    
  • Impact tools
    
  • Other power and hand tools
    
• Strong mechanical aptitude
  
• Ability to assemble and disassemble machinery using hand tools
  
• Basic math skills and ability to retain technical information
  
• Strong attention to detail
  
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

• Willingness to work overtime when needed
  

• Previous experience in equipment manufacturing industrial manufacturing or machinery assembly environments
  
• Forklift experience (training and certification available)
  

• Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds
  
• Ability to stand walk bend kneel climb and work in physically demanding environments
  
• Ability to reach above shoulder level and below knee level
  
• Comfortable working at heights
  
• Ability to work around material handling equipment dust moderate noise and required PPE
