Job Description
Overview
A Football Referee is responsible for enforcing the rules of the game ensuring fair play and maintaining player safety during football matches. This position requires a deep understanding of the sports rules strong decision-making and composure under pressure.
Line Judge
A Line Judge is responsible for accurately determining whether the ball is in or out of bounds during a football game. This position requires excellent eyesight quick reflexes and a thorough understanding of the games rules.
Responsibilities
- Enforce rules: Consistently apply the official rules of football to all players and game flow: Control the pace manage time effectively and make timely decisions.
- Maintain player safety: Monitor player behavior and enforce penalties for unsafe or unsportsmanlike conduct.
- Communicate effectively: Clearly and concisely communicate rulings to players coaches and spectators.
- Professional development: Participate in a 2-hour referee training to be scheduled by the athletic director.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of football rules and regulations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to make quick and accurate decisions under pressure.
- Adequate physical fitness and stamina.
- Ability to maintain composure in challenging situations.
Working Conditions
- The outdoor environment is subject to various weather conditions.
- Games typically occur on Wednesdays at 4:00 at Stayton Middle School. Must be able to attend all home games.
- Physical demands include running standing and walking for extended periods.
- The schedule will include 6 home games 3 seventh-grade games and 3 eighth-grade games. Wednesday nights @4:30 pm. Two games will be held at 6:30 pm at the HS TBD.
