We are hiring an experienced Heavy Equipment / Shop Mechanic to join our team supporting steel mill and earth-moving operations. This is a high-paying union position offering long-term stability excellent benefits and consistent overtime opportunities.

DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS:

• Diagnose troubleshoot and repair heavy equipment and diesel-powered machinery
• Perform inspections preventative maintenance and component replacements
• Respond to service calls and complete work orders accurately
• Maintain fleet reliability for steel mill and mobile equipment operations
• Utilize diagnostic software and maintenance systems to track repairs
• Communicate equipment status and parts needs with site leadership
• Other duties as required

WHAT YOULL NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

• 3-5 years of mechanical experience with heavy equipment and a strong working knowledge of hydraulics powertrain electronic/electrical systems diesel engines Cat SIS Cummins INSITE Volvo Penta etc.
• At least 2 years of heavy equipment maintenance and repair
• Intermediate computer skills
• Experience with diagnostic software
• Ability to work independently and make sound troubleshooting decisions
• Valid drivers license with acceptable record
• Must have your own tools from ¼ inch to 1 inch drive impact wrenches socket sets and wrenches up to 2 inches
• Willingness to work shift schedules overtime and occasional weekends

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Steel mill and industrial environment
• Work performed indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job prolonged standing walking and manual dexterity are required. The employee will also need to bend climb squat stoop kneel crouch crawl and lift/move up to 50 lbs.
