Shop Technician (Entry Level Position)

Works in the aerospace industry applying coating to turbine engine components to provide erosion and corrosion protection. The Shop Technician will primarily prepare parts to receive coating. Position is safety sensitive.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Job Functions:

• Abrade metal surfaces to remove light scale and impart a surface finish sufficient for parts to receive coating
• Mask specified areas of parts to protect from abrading prior to coating.
• Examine blasted parts to ensure conformance to process requirements
• Service and maintain machinery in accordance with company and manufacturers procedures.
• Follow instructions per traveler
• Load and unload the ovens.
• Set up and operate a blast booth or similar equipment.
• Maintain records and logs as needed.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); Experience working on automobiles working with power tools or working in a shop in and around equipment is desired.

Language Ability:

Read and comprehend simple instructions short correspondence and memos. Write simple correspondence. Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers clients and other employees.

Mathematical Ability:

Add and subtract two-digit numbers and multiply/divide with 10s and 100s. Perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement volume and distance.

Reasoning Ability:

Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form. Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
