Job Title: Shop Support / Fabrication Shop Assistant
Location: Airway Heights WA 99001
Duration: 6 months
Shift: 1st Shift (Monday Thursday 5:00 AM 3:30 PM)
Pay Rate: $20/hr.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a Shop Support Technician to support fabrication shop operations within an aerospace manufacturing environment. This role involves material handling metal fabrication support deburring polishing cleaning inspection activities and assisting manufacturing teams with day-to-day production tasks.
The ideal candidate will have experience working in a manufacturing fabrication machine shop aerospace or industrial production environment and be comfortable using hand tools power tools measuring instruments and following detailed work instructions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support fabrication shop operations and production activities.
- Purchase and coordinate materials parts supplies and equipment in accordance with established procedures.
- Perform fabrication support functions including:
- Scribing
- Trimming
- Sanding
- Polishing
- Drilling
- Punching
- Sizing
- Deburring
- Utilize hand and power tools including:
- Die grinders
- Band saws
- Chop saws
- Shears
- Grinders
- Polishers
- Belt sanders
- Clean metal components using approved cleaning processes and chemicals.
- Inspect parts using precision measuring equipment such as:
- Calipers
- Micrometers
- Height gauges
- Inspection fixtures
- Verify dimensions and quality requirements.
- Detect and report quality issues or faulty operations.
- Follow written work instructions blueprints sketches and safety procedures.
- Assist with process improvements and support continuous production activities.
- Train and assist other team members when required.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Manufacturing fabrication machine shop production aerospace or industrial experience preferred.
- Ability to read and follow written instructions and shop sketches.
- Basic math skills.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity.
- Ability to safely use hand tools and power tools.
- Willingness to work in a manufacturing environment and learn new processes.
- Must be able to work under direct supervision and follow established procedures.
