  • Pay: $26.50/ hr. - $30.00 /hr.

  • Shift: 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

The Shipping / Receiving Associate coordinates the inbound and outbound logistics of internal and external customer cylinders. This role ensures the accurate tracking filling and return of cylinders while maintaining a high standard of customer service and driving operational efficiency.

Logistics & Route Coordination

  • Production Scheduling: Coordinate with the Plant Manager to align production priorities with scheduled delivery needs and shipping timelines.

  • Carrier Management: Arrange and manage shipping schedules with external carriers.

  • Route Optimization: Partner with management to identify operational opportunities and improve overall route productivity.

  • Distribution Collaboration: Work closely with the distribution team to anticipate customer needs regarding new business and market growth.

Inventory & Systems Management

  • SAP Maintenance: Update the SAP system with order changes and maintain data integrity for cylinder inventory accuracy.

  • Reporting: Regularly generate and distribute tracking and operational reports from the SAP system.

  • Stock Monitoring: Promptly inform the Operations Manager of any product or material shortages.

Quality Control & Safety Compliance

  • Safety Standards: Maintain strict adherence to company policies safety protocols and the mandatory use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

  • Cylinder Inspections: Conduct thorough visual safety inspections of cylinders and ensure proper placement and markings.

  • Quarantine Procedures: Identify and isolate cylinders that fail inspection placing them into quarantine according to standard operating procedures.

  • Hazardous Materials: Follow all location-specific hazard shipping requirements and compliance procedures.

Communication & Adaptability

  • Schedule Updates: Proactively inform sales customer service and customers of any route rescheduling or delays.

  • Operational Flexibility: Perform any reasonable qualification-aligned work requests as required by business needs.

Required Qualifications:
  • Must be able to work flexible hours to meet customers needs and management expectations.

  • Must be able to work in a drug free environment.

  • Must be able to operate a forklift and maintain appropriate forklift certifications.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

  • One year experience working in a similar fill plant is preferred.

  • Computer skills (word processing and spreadsheets)

  • Ability to work independently in a team atmosphere and under pressure to meet deadlines.

The hourly base pay range for this position in Washington is $26.50/ hr. - $30.00 /hr. Please note that the hourly base pay information is a general guideline only. Airgas considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position candidates work experience education/ training key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
