Job Summary
The Shipping Clerk is responsible for handling all aspects of the shipping department emphasizing the accurate transfer of finished products to customers in a timely and consistent manner while meeting food safety and customer specifications.

- Ensures the preparation of picked orders for shipment by assembling orders checking against shipping or customer orders and reporting shortages and incomplete orders.
- Selects appropriate shipping containers and packing material.
- Checks receipts against purchase orders for proper shipment shortages damages or defects.
- Prints and checks system outbound page daily to stay current on shipments.
- Prints pick lists for order pickers daily.
- Assigns order pickers and loaders to loads and other assignments as necessary.
- Get orders ready for loaders to grave them
- Processes RMAs including inventory counts and inventory adjustments.
- Checks in drivers and verify order and identification.
- Assist in verifying scheduled pick-up appointments or outbound shipments by phone or e-mail.
- Signs drivers in/out and checks identification; assign to pick-up locations.
- Prints orders for staging and distributes appropriate paperwork to warehouse staff.
- Prints bill of ladings for outbound shipping orders.
- Tracks order changes and cancellations.
- Scans and files orders.
- Prepares UPS shipments.
- Performs load checks as necessary.
- Enters orders for shipments
- Sets uploads for outbound shipments.
- During downtime ensures the cleanliness of the work area and/or assist other stackers.
- Communicates with management or maintenance personnel on a timely basis to facilitate any maintenance and repairs.
- Complies with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) procedures including timely and accurate documentation of required SQF forms and safety policies.
- Maintains regular attendance and punctuality.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
EDUCATION AND FORMAL TRAINING:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum one (1) year shipping or receiving experience preferred
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITY:
- Microsoft Office preferred (Outlook Excel Outlook)
- Ability to use a ten-key calculator office copier and scanner
- Basic math skills
- Flexibility to accommodate unscheduled changes in duties and work overtime as needed
- Self-motivated and responsible
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and co-workers
