Summary
This position provides support to operations by being responsible for verifying and keeping records of incoming and outgoing shipments and may prepare materials for shipment. This position will also be responsible for loading unloading and moving materials within or near the plant yard or work site.
Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform the following essential duties satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned to address business needs and changing business practices.
- Follows all EHS rules and regulations
- Safely loads and unloads materials onto form pallets trays racks and shelves.
- Compares identifying information and counts of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading invoices orders or other records.
- Records receipt of incoming materials and equipment
- Ensures materials are separated and stored in the appropriate locations or bins
- Documents and enters inventory information into the computer system
- Reads and interprets work orders in order to ascertain which materials to pull
- Moves materials from storage location to work site in accordance with the work order
- Performs cycle counting and physical inventories
- Uses steel cutters crowbar clawhammer or other hand tools to open containers.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
- Experience in forklift operations
- Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships and teamwork
- Ability to operate equipment used in handling of materials
- Ability to follow oral and written instruction
- Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including but not limited to steel toed boots goggles ear plugs gloves
- Proficient in computer software applications including Word Excel Outlook
- Ability to communicate and collaborate professionally both verbally and in writing at all levels
- Ability to organize and prioritize projects and information with accuracy under tight timeframes to meet organizational needs
Preferred Qualifications
- Materials or warehouse experience
- 2 years work experience as a material handler in an industrial setting
- Proficient with the American Association of Railroads (AAR) and Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) industry and customer requirements

The physical environment requires the employee to work in hot and cold environments in and out of the weather work safely around heavy equipment and on top of and under railcars as well as around railroad tracks. Employees are required to use personal protective equipment such as steel toe boots hard hat hearing protection safety glasses welding and grinding shields etc. or as environmental conditions dictate.
