We are hiring a Shift Supervisor (Guard Supervisor) for our Springfield Illinois location. This position is responsible for scheduling and supervising security staff who monitor the grounds and property enforce security regulations and check employees and visitors for proper access. Essential Functions
- Under direction plans assigns supervises and reviews the activities of the Guard staff and contractual employees engaged in the protection and safety of persons and property at the Willard Ice Building (WIB) and grounds.
- Serves as working supervisor.
- Takes immediate action to control unexpected situations e.g. building evacuations disturbances etc.
- Studies and assesses security needs and assists the supervisor in conducting studies of security practices and procedures.
- Assists in developing and conducting training programs for security force personnel.
- Participates in advanced security and emergency medical training including first aid CPR fire and safety control and response protocols for security breaches to enhance skills abilities and knowledge.
- Accepts assignments to a different shift schedule on a temporary basis during staff shortage and/or during emergency situations.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of high school.
- Requires two years of safety and security experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two (2) years of experience carrying out emergency response procedures and techniques including first aid CPR fire and safety control and response protocols for security breaches.
- Two (2) years of experience working with security enforcement regulations practices and techniques.
- Two (2) years of experience preparing and organizing facts into reports.
- Two (2) years of experience implementing written procedures and work instructions.
- One (1) year of experience working with video and audio surveillance equipment.
Conditions of Employment
- Requires the ability to successfully complete a tax compliance and fingerprint-based background check.
- Requires ability to bend stoop kneel stand for extended periods walk both within the building and outside in all weather conditions climb and descend stairs.
- This position is considered heavy work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor (20 CFR 404.1567(d)). Heavy work involves lifting no more than 100 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Requires the ability to become CPR certified and maintain certification while employed.
- Requires the ability to work alternate shifts as assigned.
